Of Course You Have Questions
We’ve heard a common set of your questions from CIOs at large enterprises. Most of you
want to move to the cloud to get the benefits that only the cloud can deliver: quick
time-to-value, broad reach across global, social and mobile user channels and the flexibility
to rapidly adapt to changes in your business. Before you make the move, the questions
you may want addressed are:
1. What is the roadmap to cloud ERP?
2. What about integration to existing and other cloud applications?
3. Is cloud ERP secure?
4. What about privacy?
5. Can you deliver the availability and reliability we require?
6. Will cloud ERP scale for our large enterprise?
7. How easy will the system be for our users?
8. What are the real economics of cloud vs. on premise?
This whitepaper answers your questions in an easy-to-read, brief overview. For some
broad topics, like security , we provide you with links to more in-depth information.

1. What Is the Roadmap to Cloud ERP
Implementing a cloud ERP system is similar to any other implementation, except that there’s
no hardware or software to install and you can use a more agile approach.
Before you begin your journey to Cloud ERP, the first thing to decide is what path you want
to take and that depends on your business needs. For some of you, moving ERP to the cloud
means replacing your core ERP system. For others, a more gradual migration might better fit
your needs. Working with our customers and prospects, we have identified three patterns of
adoption:
Two-Tier
If you have a corporate on-premise ERP system you plan to keep in place, but you need to
roll out ERP more quickly in strategic areas of your business, a two-tier ERP strategy is a great
option. With integration back to your corporate ERP, you can move your global business units,
acquisitions, joint ventures, divestures or new growth areas to the cloud to seize new business
opportunities.

Edge
Similar to strategic adoption, you may prefer to keep your on-premise ERP for certain
departments, such as finance. For other areas, such as indirect procurement or manufacturing,
you may need a more flexible and easy-to-use solution. If so, you can implement an edge
strategy by moving some functional areas to the cloud with integration back to your
corporate ERP.
Core
If you are running your company on aging legacy systems such as BPCS or Baan, the time has
come for a full ERP replacement. Rather than take on a multi-year on-premise implementation,
you can move to the cloud as a way to leapfrog into a modern architecture.
The two-tier and edge adoption models offer you a proof of concept to experience the benefits
of cloud ERP, without a rip and replace of your traditional system. Integration with your existing
ERP is easy to accomplish (see the Integration section below). And over time, as you see benefits,
you can easily move more of your operations to the cloud.

Implementation Plan
Kenandy believes that the implementation phase of the project plays a critical role in your
success. We pay special attention to the following activities during the implementation phase:
• Understanding your current business and IT processes and workflows
• Data modeling, cleansing, and testing
• Stakeholder reviews and validations
• Training and education of super users, end users and system administrators
• Extensive testing including integration and EDI testing
We give you the option to decide what role we play during the implementation phase. We can
complement your existing resources and work seamlessly with your implementation partners.
We use the agile development method for building required enhancements during or after the
implementation phase. The agile approach is fast and ensures that the features are built and
integrated accurately with constant engagement from our users.
Data Load
Many of the CIOs we’ve spoken to want to know what’s required and what tools are available for
data migration.
You can choose to migrate any amount of historical data that you want into Kenandy. A CSV
file format can be loaded into Kenandy objects. To do this, you can use tools that work with
the Salesforce Platform, including the Salesforce Data Loader, the Informatica Data Loader and
the Jitterbit Data Loader, all available on the Salesforce AppExchange. These data loader tools
provide easy-to-use graphical interfaces, with drag and drop field mapping, that help you get
data into Kenandy objects. They can also be used to extract data from database objects. The
data loader tools support large fields with up to millions of rows, all objects—including custom
objects—and provide detailed success and error logs.

Sandbox Testing
The platform gives you the ability to create multiple copies of your organization in separate
environments for a variety of purposes, such as testing and training, without compromising
the data and applications in your Kenandy production organization. These copies are called
sandboxes and are nearly identical to your production organization.
Sandboxes are completely isolated from the production organization, so operations you
perform in your sandboxes do not affect your production organization, and vice versa.
The sandbox types include:
• Configuration-only sandboxes, that include a copy of all your production organization’s
reports, dashboards, apps and customizations, but exclude all of your organization’s
object records, documents and attachments.
• Developer sandboxes, that are special configuration-only sandboxes intended for coding
and testing by developers. Their primary purpose is to provide an environment in which
changes under active development can be isolated until they’re ready to be shared.
• Full sandboxes, that are copies of your entire production organization and all its data,
including standard and custom object records, documents and attachments.
2. What about Integration?
Kenandy applications are fully integrated end-to-end business processes. Also, Kenandy
is built on the Salesforce Platform, using an object-centric approach to deployment, and
seamlessly integrates with salesforce.com’s Sales, Marketing and Service applications.
For other applications you may want to integrate, you have a choice of approaches, based
on the type of integration you need. For every application that you want to integrate with
Kenandy, tools are available to help you integrate data, business logic, user experience, and
security. Kenandy uses a standards-based approach to integration. Kenandy integration works
with your corporate standard enterprise service bus, your middleware and your identity
management system for single sign-on.
For every application that you want to integrate to Kenandy, there are several potential areas
to consider including data, business logic and security layers. Tools are available to help with
each type of integration.

Security Integration
You can integrate with your current authentication mechanisms across applications,
to improve the user experience and minimize user administration with single sign-on.
UI Integration
Kenandy is based on standard web browser and mobile technology. You can integrate
the user experience to allow users to access the application functionality within the
context of their work, on any device. For example, quickly create composite customer,
supplier or employee portals. Deliver notifications and approval requests to users
via email. Integrate information from Kenandy to documents or spreadsheets.

Business Logic Integration
You can create end-to-end business processes with Kenandy and other systems using
standard web services. Integrate with legacy ERP, best-of-breed applications, on premise
or cloud. Integrate with your systems or with your trading partners’ systems. Kenandy can
stay in lock-step with other applications in a business process. For example, if you want to
connect Kenandy eProcurement to an existing procurement sourcing application, you can
have a two-way integration that allows everyone to stay informed on the status of a request,
approval, purchase or receipt—all from the easy-to-use Kenandy eProcurement interface.
Data Integration
There are several ways to integrate applications at the data layer. The Kenandy platform
supports import and export of CSV files and has open APIs. Connect with non-Kenandy
applications, such as human capital management or a corporate financial consolidation
system. Integrate with a master data management hub or export data to your corporate
data warehouse. Bulk data loading capabilities support rapid loading of millions of records
into your Kenandy application. Kenandy keeps a complete change history for audit and
data sourcing purposes.
Common Integration Points on the Journey to Cloud ERP
If you choose a two-tier ERP strategy where you adopt Kenandy for strategic, fast-moving
areas of your business, common data integration points are from Kenandy to your corporate
data warehouse and your consolidated financial reporting system.
If you choose an edge application strategy, data and process integration to existing systems
is dependent on what functions you want Kenandy to manage and what functions you want
your existing systems to manage. For example, you may want to integrate eProcurement
to a sourcing and/or payables system. Or, you may prefer to have Kenandy manage these
functions and have your existing system just perform consolidated financial reporting.
If you choose a core replacement strategy, common data integration points are between
Kenandy and departmental solutions, such as human capital management or customer
relationship management.

3. Is Cloud ERP Secure?
Because Kenandy ERP is built on the Salesforce Platform, it natively ensures security, privacy
and availability. The platform is built with security as the foundation for the entire service.
One of the core features of a multitenant platform is the use of a single pool of computing
resources to service the needs of many different customers. Kenandy protects your organiza-
tion’s data from all other customer organizations by using a unique organization identifier,
which is associated with each user’s session. Once you log in to your organization, your
subsequent requests are associated with your organization, using this identifier. The platform
also offers several features to further secure access to the application, including email
activation for connection from new devices, and termination of idle sessions.
Kenandy provides you with complete control and flexibility to manage users, their data access
(down to the specific field level), and ultimately audit the entire environment. Access to system
capabilities is secured, and field-level security means that information access is controlled and
compliant. You can also use Kenandy defined profiles for executive, purchasing, and operations
levels, or create your own custom profiles.
Here is an overview of the platform security at all levels:
Application Security
Kenandy addresses application security by combining the strengths of multitenancy with
modern development and management processes to minimize security vulnerabilities and
maximize performance and usability. Users see only the data to which they have assigned
privileges. Kenandy incorporates the following security measures to ensure security of your data:
• Every record of the database contains your Customer Org ID
• During login, the authenticated user is mapped to their org and specific access privileges
• Every request to the database is formed by the application and is limited to the user’s
Org ID and privileges
• Every row returned from the database is then validated against the Org ID
• An error in the query process does not return any data

Login and Authentication Settings
Login profiles give you an efficient way to manage system and application access for sets of
similar users. Your administrator can create profiles that control access to entire applications,
specific application tabs, administrative and general user permissions, and object permissions,
along with other settings. Then, your administrator can assign each user a login profile. If the
common requirements for a set of users change, all that’s necessary is an update to the login
profile for that group of users.
Many organizations use single sign-on to simplify and standardize user authentication across
a portfolio of applications. The following single sign-on options are supported:
• Federated authentication single sign-on using Security Assertion Markup Language
(SAML)
• Delegated authentication single sign-on, which enables you to integrate
Kenandy with your authentication method of choice, such as an LDAP
Kenandy is hosted in a secure server environment that uses a firewall and other advanced
technology to prevent interference or access from outside intruders.
Database Security
The database is hardened according to industry and vendor guidelines, and is accessible only
by a limited number of employees with DBA access. Customers do not have direct database or
operating system-level access to the platform environment. Customer passwords for Kenandy
ERP are hashed via SHA 256 before being stored in the database.
Network Security
Kenandy uses some of the most advanced technologies for Internet security available today.
When you access the application using a platform-supported browser, Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
technology protects your information using server authentication and data encryption, ensuring
that your data is safe, secure and available only to registered users in your organization.

laws that govern the handling of personal information. We support our customers’ compliance
with such laws by providing a comprehensive privacy and security program that includes
certifications, policies, practices, people, and technology.

6. Will Cloud ERP Scale for Our Large Enterprise?
One of the key benefits of using cloud computing is that it enables speed and flexibility,
regardless of the number of processes or users. Built on the multitenant Salesforce Platform,
Kenandy ERP is fast, scalable and elastic.
Years of experience have transformed the Salesforce Platform into an extremely fast, scalable
and reliable multitenant Internet application platform. As an illustration of the platform’s proven
capability to support Internet-scale applications, consider the figure below. Notice that, over
time, average page response time has decreased or held steady (a measure of performance)
while average transaction volume has concurrently increased (a measure of scalability).
Since the platform offers dynamic scalability to handle fluctuation in demand and increase in
the number of users, Kenandy is able to scale up and down to meet your business needs.
Finally, you have access to computer power that no single company could afford to build!
The economy of scale comes from the shared pool of resources (infrastructure, software or
platforms); at any given time, unused resources serve multiple needs for multiple consumers,
all working at the same time.

7. How Easy Will the System Be for Our Users?
Kenandy ERP is easy to learn, easy to configure and easy to re-configure, as your business
changes. This ease of use translates into rapid implementation and user adoption. The
Kenandy platform and architecture allows extreme configuration. Everything from fields,
workflows, user interfaces to reports can be configured in the metadata driven architecture.
We don’t hard code; everything is designed for flexible configuration and configurations are
protected during updates.
Easy to Learn
Kenandy ERP is easy to learn, because the user interface is simple, clear and intuitive. Kenandy
also has clickable workflows, hover-over Help and context-sensitive online Help. The context-
sensitive Help includes text and videos related to the page you are on, as well as direct links to
the Kenandy Community for additional information.
Easy to Configure
You can add fields and change workflows and menus without IT support. You can rapidly extend
Kenandy or build custom applications with drag-and-drop tools, auto-generated user interfaces,
pre-built components, and pre-designed templates. Create objects and drag them onto your
pages to interact with your data. Build rich forms without complex code.
Kenandy includes over 100 standard reports, and you can also modify or create custom reports
and dashboards without IT support. You can base many reports on an individual report type
since you can look at the same set of data in many ways. You can create a report on the fly or
save it for reuse. In turn, reports are the building blocks for dashboards, which can be charts
or graphs that include drill downs. A drag-and-drop tool allows users to quickly create custom
dashboards and reports.

8. What Are the Real Economics of Cloud ERP vs. On Premise?
According to a Booz & Company analysis, the cost savings of cloud-based ERP add up to a
total cost of ownership that can be 50% to 60% lower than an on-premise solution over a
ten-year period.
Where do the cost savings come from?
• You can access applications through the cloud and only pay for what is actually used.
The costs are scalable, based on the number of users you have, so the charges are a
variable operating expense.
• An important part of the savings comes from redeploying your labor resources to
more strategic, and value-add positions while Kenandy and salesforce.com manage
the system for you. As the diagram below illustrates, the amount of management
that customers have to do in on-premise implementations is often “hidden”. Beyond
applications, customers must manage data, middleware, database, servers, storage,
and networking. With Kenandy, all those technologies are managed for you.
With Kenandy, the applications, platform and infrastructure are managed for you.

Beyond the initial cost savings, Nucleus found that cloud applications deliver 1.7 times more ROI
than on-premise software. Four out of five cloud deployments found benefits increase over time.
Here are the ways you can continue to expand your ROI with Kenandy:
• Your business users can expand and adapt the solutions to changing business conditions
without incurring consulting costs.
• You can add new users very easily as you identify opportunities for more value.
• Upgrades are relatively transparent to your end users, so you can quickly take advantage
of new features and capabilities to drive greater productivity and business efficiency.
Of course cost comparisons are very specific to each individual customer. At Kenandy, we
offer simple per-user per-month pricing, so you can easily do the math. On the back of a
napkin, you can compare the cost of Kenandy to the annual maintenance fee of on-premise
ERP. You can realize savings on upfront capital costs and on-going upgrade costs, but your
major savings are likely to be labor costs, since much of the burden of maintaining the system
is handled for you. And you can start small. Kenandy is built to handle the demands of large
enterprises, but we recognize that you may want to start small, with a division or an applica-
tion and make a gradual move to the cloud.
Costs aside, many of our customers are going to the cloud to keep pace with rapid business
change and flexibility. It may be that you simply cannot wait for multi-year on-premise
implementations. So, depending on your business model, speed to market may be far more
valuable than the IT cost savings.

Is Kenandy ERP Ready for Your Enterprise?
Companies are turning to the cloud to get quicker time-to-value and greater agility. But, how
ready is cloud ERP? To answer this question, we have to explain that the design of applications
on the cloud is a paradigm shift. They are 100% multitenant, highly flexible object-oriented and
metadata driven applications. What does that mean in plain language? We can develop and
deliver new functionality really, really fast—with three to four updates a year. You always have
access to the latest version, because we apply the updates for you. And you can
configure the application to meet your business needs very quickly, without impacting
on-going updates. Today, Kenandy offers complete Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay,
Planning and Production, Global Financials, and eProcurement. With a roadmap driven by our
customers, we will continue to build out new applications, like product lifecycle management,
that you can leverage—just by adding any new users you may need.
The cloud offers new possibilities for how we develop; we are taking advantage of them to create
better ways of doing business. For example, we can run a complex MRP process in a couple of
minutes, something that would take over a day in traditional applications. We don’t “hard code”;
everything is designed for flexible configuration. So, it’s ready to meet your specific business
requirement.
Kenandy has an experienced management team and board, dedicated to the success of our
customers. ERP veteran, Sandra Kurtzig started Kenandy because she saw an opportunity to
reinvent enterprise management software on the cloud. The team at Kenandy knows how to
build ERP applications and has built a more flexible, cost-effective next-generation solution
on the cloud.
