Who’s Who in Your School?

By Carly Waxman, Re Lopez, Corie Kirsch and Meghan

It takes many people to make sure that our school is the best it can be. Each person has a special job. They help you as you learn each day.

Your teacher plans activities that help you learn. Teachers are responsible for making sure that you are safe and that everything runs smoothly in the classroom. Teachers work hard to make sure that everyone is participating and learning.

Teachers really enjoy working with students and watching them grow throughout the year. If you enjoy working with children, you may choose to become a teacher when you grow up.

Some teachers in your school work with your classroom teacher. There are also art, music, P.E. teachers, and librarians who help you learn.

Your principal is responsible for making sure that our entire school is safe and that everything runs smoothly. The principal expects everyone in the school community to do their best and to follow school rules. Your principal spends time talking to parents, teachers and students. Your principal enjoys visiting classrooms to see what students are working on.

The secretaries help everyone in the school community. Secretaries answer phones, write letters, schedule appointments, and greet visitors that come to our school. Secretaries work very hard to assist the principal, teachers and students.

Custodians keep our school clean. They sweep, mop, empty garbage cans, clean up spills and help with recycling. They help to fix things when they break. They deliver packages to the classroom. They also set up tables, chairs and help prepare for special programs.

The nurse has a very large responsibility. The nurse works to keep all students and faculty safe and healthy each day. The nurse takes your temperature when you don’t feel well, helps you when you’re hurt, gives you medication, and calls home when you are sick or injured. Every year, the nurse tests your eyes and ears to make sure they are working properly.

The food service workers work in your cafeteria to plan the lunch menu, prepare the food and serve it to the school community. They make sure that you have healthy food to eat.

Each person has a special job to do in your school community. Make sure that you say hello as you see these community members each day.

Hello!Hello! Hi there!
