Position Description:
The Henry L. Stimson Center (Stimson), in collaboration with interested governments,
civil society groups, businesses, and international organization partners, has initiated Just
Security 2020: Advancing the Recommendations of the Commission on Global Security,
Justice & Governance. Co-chaired by Madeleine Albright (former US Secretary of State)
and Ibrahim Gambari (former Minister of External Affairs of Nigeria), the Commission
released its flagship report, Confronting the Crisis of Global Governance, at the Peace
Palace in The Hague on June 16, 2015. Looking toward the 75th anniversary of the United
Nations in 2020, it underscored the need for new tools to manage the world's most pressing
problems, from violent conflict and climate change to the "hyperconnected" global
economy, and stressed the need to build justice as well as security. "Just Security" is not
only a matter of fundamental fairness but a way to combat the alienation that increases
receptivity to violent extremist thought. Emphasizing the intersection of security and
justice in global governance, Just Security 2020 aims to establish a broad-based
international coalition of state and non-state actors to pursue key Commission
recommendations and related global governance reform.
Responsibilities:
Help organize the abovementioned international Track 1.5 policy dialogues with
key constituencies from governments, international organizations, think tanks,
universities, the private sector, and civil society;
Assist in drafting reports, articles and help contribute content to the Just Security
2020 program's website;
Contribute to the preparation of Just Security 2020 Program deliverables, such as
research products, public events, podcasts, video content, listserv management, and
social media outreach (if you have technical skills, you should let us know);
Remain on top of program support and administration, such as monitoring
programmatic budget expenditures, addressing the logistical requirements of Track
1.5 and expert meetings, organizing events, calendars, to-dos, and programmatic
deadlines;

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a field that makes you prepared to be an important member of

The Naval War College is a Professional Military Education (PME) institution serving the
nation, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Navy. The CDE conducts its courses in
the NWC-at-NPS Program in a classroom seminar format. The position is full-time (non-
tenure track) with rank and salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
Incumbent will teach the “Strategy and War” (S&W) course at the Intermediate Service
College.
Responsibilities:
Conduct classroom instruction;
Review and evaluate student essays, examinations, and other written and verbal
assessments;
Develop curricula;
Perform various types of service to the College;
Travel to, and lecture at, nonresident seminars around the country as required; and
Perform educational administrative functions as required.
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in one or more of the following areas: History, International

the general supervision of the Chief of Interpretation Service, the incumbent will provide
interpretation for all inter-governmental and other meetings at the United Nations.
Responsibilities:
Service up to seven meetings per week (exceptionally eight), usually of no more
than three hours duration, of various United Nations bodies;
Provide interpretation, as required, into French of speeches or statements given in

The use of open fires and traditional cookstoves and fuels is one of the world's most
pressing health and environmental problems. Globally, three billion people rely on solid
fuels to cook, which causes serious environmental and health impacts that
disproportionally affect women and children. According to the World Health Organization,
household air pollution from cooking kills over 4 million people every year and sickens
millions more. The Alliance is working with its public, private and non-profit partners to
accelerate the production, deployment, and use of clean cookstoves and fuels in developing
countries.
Responsibilities:
Support the Women’s Empowerment Fund selection process;
Support the production and publication of approximately 10 gender case studies;
Support the production and publication of a learning outcomes document from the
Women’s Energy Entrepreneurship Workshop;
Draft and edit web content for gender programs, including fact sheets, press
releases, gender resources/tools, and other communications materials;
Conduct desk research and track data on gender, women’s empowerment, and clean
cooking;
Communicate with Alliance partners to collect data and impact related to gender
and women’s empowerment;
Support the Alliance’s youth education program in Ghana and Kenya; and
Support the review and development of gender program materials.
Qualifications:

including security, justice, political, and social mechanisms. Learn which approaches have
been successful, which failed, and which are beyond the reach of policy. In gaining a cross-
sectoral perspective on post-conflict transitions, you will be able to transform conflicts
around the world over the course of your career. You will receive a Post-Graduate
Certificate in “Post-Conflict Transitions” upon completion of the course. You may choose

to some extent on the scholar’s interests and expertise, candidates should have a
deep understanding of the political, strategic, and technical aspects of arms control
and non-proliferation;
Depending on the level of hire, in addition to academic credentials the successful
candidate will have either significant experience making or implementing foreign
policy, conducting policy analysis, and in senior management, or a proven record
of publishing books and articles in internationally-known professional or academic
journals and news publications, or both. In addition to these qualifications, a
