My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun

My lovers eyes are nothing like the sun

Coral is far more red than her lips red

Coal is much more red than her lips

If snow be white, why then her breast are dun

If snow is white, than her breast are dun

If hair be wires, black wires grow on her head

If hair was wires, then black wires grow on her head

I have seen roses damask’d, red and white

I’ve seen pink roses, and red and white

But no such roses I see in her cheeks

But I don’t see roses in her cheeks

And some perfume is there more delight

And in some perfumes is there more delight

Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks

But her breathe still reeks

I love to hear her speak, yet well I know

I love to hear her talk, but yet I know

That music hath a far more pleasing sound

That music makes a way better sound

I grant I never saw a goddess go

I’ve never seen a goddess go

My mistress when she walks treads on the ground

My lover when she walks leaves footprints on the ground

And yet by heaven, I think my love is rare

And yet by heaven, I think my love is rare

As any, she belied with false compare

Compare her to anyone and its not fair
