approaching, the finish line is within reach.
Next up, an unforgettable honeymoon in Thailand and Vietnam. I hope you are looking forward to white sand beaches, limestone cliffs, and cocktails at sunset.
Thailand is such an amazing place. The views are unmatched, the food is top notch, and the Thai people could easily win nicest on the planet.
And let's not forget about Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). The city is bursting at the seams with buzzing motorbikes, tasty cuisine, and historic landmarks. You are in for a real treat.

Before you land you will receive an arrival card from a flight attendant. Fill out the form while on the plane because it will save you some time and help you beat the rush to the immigration line. Customs is typically a breeze so don't worry. Make sure to keep the other half of the slip the officer gives you back to use for your flight home.
TAXI TRANSFER
After collecting your luggage, look for the ground transportation taxi area. It should be easy to spot as there is a great deal of signage in english. Once there, you will need to grab a number/ticket which will pair you up with a taxi driver. You can tell the driver you are going to the Metropole, but we found that it is easiest to show him the hotel address in Thai (below). When you talk to your taxi driver make sure you say "use the meter." He may say no at first (because he wants to make more money off of you), but if you insist he will eventually comply. It should cost around 600 Baht which includes your metered fare, plus two highway toll charges.

If you are feeling up for a little Bangkok sight seeing on your first day, we recommend visiting the Grand Palace (open 8:30am-3:30pm). Admission costs $15 and is well worth it. They are the best temples we have seen in all of Asia. If you're able to pull yourself out of bed after that long flight, try to get there a little early to beat the crowds.
If you are extremely ambitious and want to check another Bangkok hotspot off your list, our second recommendation is visiting the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho. It is an enormous golden Buddha, definitely a sight to see.
The easiest way to get around is to take a Grab, Southeast Asia's Lyft. Download the app, hail a ride, and then just pay cash. No need to deal with the headache of cab drivers trying to squeeze a few extra Baht out of you.

We have confirmed a late checkout with the hotel. You will have a little time to kill, so if you want to grab a drink or a bite to eat, you can just leave your bags with reception.

Koh Yao Yai is the perfect island for exploration. You have so many options during your stay. Among them are island hopping (Hong Island, James Bond Island, Phi Phi, etc.), snorkeling, kayaking, and much more. It's up to you to figure out which ones you want to prioritize!

Krabi is truly one of a kind. You mentioned doing a little hiking on your trip, I'd definitely save it for Krabi. You can also do some island hopping on this day. Or... just relax and hang out on the beach since the scenery of your resort is a sight in itself. It is, after all, your honeymoon!

Visit the Vietnam War Remnants Museum which is open daily. Make sure to set aside a few hours as there is so much to read and see. It is definitely one of the better museum experiences we've had, however, you'll need to use your "communist filter" because there is a great deal of spin throughout the exhibit. Quite interesting to say the least. The cost is $18 USD per person.
Other notable landmarks are the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, Saigon Central Post Office, Independence Palace, and for a great view of the entire city, the Bitexco Financial Tower Skydeck.
You also have the option of going to the Cu Chi Tunnels or taking a Mekong Delta River cruise, but these both require setting aside an entire day for each. They are quite a ways out of downtown so consider this before deciding. If you are up for it then the front desk at the Rex can provide you with several options.
There is also a really great documentary on Netflix called Last Days in Vietnam. It gives you an idea of the historical significance of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) and what it was like during the war.

PASSPORTS & VISAS Please make sure that your passport has minimum 6 month validity and blank pages. Getting into Thailand will be easy and will cost $0 but Vietnam is a little more complex and takes a bit more planning. See below.
THAILAND VISA
U.S. citizen tourists entering Thailand for fewer than 30 days do not require a visa. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your entry into Thailand. Thai immigration officials or airline staff may ask for your onward/return ticket.
VIETNAM VISA
1. Apply online for an approval letter, which may take 3-5 working days for processing or 8 working hours for urgent processing.
2. Receive the approval letter by email and print a hard copy (1 copy per person).
3. Upon landing at the Ho Chi Minh City Airport you will get your visa stamp on arrival.
4. Bring above hard copy approval letter, 2 passport sized photos (per person), and your passport to be stamped for entry into Vietnam.
5. Please note they charge a stamping fee of $25 USD CASH ONLY (per person).
