Keith and his wife of 23 years, Linda, have four children: Kyle, Eric, Brian and Jenna. The three boys are JCHS graduates, and Jenna is a sophomore. Dr. Ingram is a private practice physician of Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He has been a Treasure Coast resident since 1989. He is also an assisitant coach for the JCHS track team.
Dave and his wife Diane live in Vero Beach with his youngest of three daughters, Katherine, a sophomore at JCHS. He has two other daughters, Jennifer and Emily. Dave grew up in Pennsylvania, has a business degree from Penn State University, and earned a Masters degree from Drexel University. He worked in banking for 35 years, the last 22 years as Senior Vice President at Harbor Federal Savings Bank in Ft. Pierce. Dave retired from banking in 2007 to return to school. He is currently completing his last year in a masters of theology degree program at St. Vincent De Paul Seminary in Boynton Beach. Upon completion he looks forward to being ordained a deacon in the Diocese of Palm Beach to serve at St. Helen parish in Vero Beach.
Beverly is a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, a Team Leader for the Altar Guild, Secretary for the St. Mary Ann’s Guild, volunteer for the PGA Historical Center, a Board Member of the Backus Museum, and a member of the Royal Palms of St. Lucie. She is a native of New Jersey, attended Business School, was a court stenographer for several years, was a Secretary at Fort Monmouth, NJ, and is now a full time homemaker. Her youngest daughter, Brittany, attends JCHS, and her husband Thom is the St. Lucie County President for Seacoast National Bank. She has two older children, Ericka and Gregory. Beverly also volunteers for the school auction and dinner dance, golf tournament, and other activities.
Maureen graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Radiology in 1985. She married Brad in 1989 and moved to the Northeast for several years before settling in Vero Beach in 1993. Their daughter Katherine is a sophomore at JCHS, and son Max is a 7th grader at St. Helen Catholic Grade School. Maureen works full time for Vero Radiology Associates as a patient service coordinator/Assistant Director. She volunteers with the American Cancer Society, Youth on a Mission, Homeless Shelter, and the Special Olympics, is a Eucharist Minister, and on the St. Helen’s Harvest Festival Board.
Robbin has been married for 25 years to Richard and has two sons Rick Jr., a freshman at Auburn University, and Robert who is a junior at JCHS. After graduating from John Carroll is 1978, Robbin graduated from the University of Dayton with a BFA in Commercial Design. She is presently the Office Manager at
Lynch, Johnson & Long, LLC and President of Four R Marine, Inc. Robbin is also a member of the Treasure Coast Manatee Foundation, Inc. and past member of the St. Lucie County Cultural Affairs Council – Board Member of Art in Public Places.
Stef has been a resident of St. Lucie County since 1982 and is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BS in Civil Engineering. He and his wife of 20 years, Tammy, have a son Wade, who is a junior at JCHS. Stef is a Professional Engineer registered in Florida and is the Senior Vice President of Culpepper & Terpening, Inc, a local Civil Engineering firm. He is a member of Governor Bush’s Committee for a Sustainable Treasure Coast, the FAU Treasure Coast Campus Advisory Board, First Peoples Bank, Ft. Pierce Advisory Board, past President of SLC Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman of SLC Planning & Zoning Board, and past President of the Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society.
Matt received a BS in accounting from Kings College and was employed as a CPA in Delaware for six years before moving to Florida in 1977. He has worked in the citrus industry for 27 years, and is currently employed by Oslo Citrus Growers in Vero Beach. His wife of 21 years, Ginny, is Business Banking Officer with National City Bank. Daughter, Lindsey, a 2007 JCHS graduate and salutatorian, is a sophomore pre-med student at the University of Notre Dame. The McAlarnens enjoy supporting the Habitat Project at JCHS and Youth on a Mission summer work-camps for high school and college-age students as well as other community and church activities.
Marie graduated from Jersey City State Teachers College with a degree in education and is certified in both New Jersey and Florida in the following areas: Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Administration, Supervision, Curriculum, & Exceptional Student Education (K-12). She has worked for the Diocese of Palm Beach for almost 35 years and spent 28 years at St. Joseph School in Stuart, the last 18 years as Principal. For the past 7 years, Marie has worked as the Assistant
Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese. She has served as a member of the John Carroll Advisory Board since 1994 as a parent, feeder school principal, and now as a Diocesan representative.

Bill is a Senior Project Manager for Culpepper & Terpening Engineers, Inc. He and his wife Betty Ann have one child, Brittani, a 2008 graduate of JCHS. Brittani is a freshman at the Ohio State University majoring in Biological Engineering. The Blazak family has lived in St. Lucie County for 25 years and is active in community events, enjoy their friends, and the wonderful environment that our area provides.
Jeff Shultz, a 1977 graduate of John Carroll, attended Valdosta State College, and is the Vice President Sales Manager at Bill Shultz Chevrolet in Fort Pierce. Jeff, his wife Renee, and daughter Morgan, a 2002 graduate, enjoy boating, helping with JCHS reunion events, and assisting local non-profit agencies. Jeff has been an instrumental part of John Carroll’s history, serving as the Golf Tournament Chairman for years and was the first recipient of the JCHS Distinguished Alumni Award.

David is originally from Virginia but moved to Ft. Pierce in 2005. He has a BS degree from James Madison University and a Masters in Public Administration from George Mason University. He has been a local government official for 20 years in Virginia, South Carolina, and Florida. Dave is currently City Manager for the City of Ft. Pierce. He and his wife Maria have four daughters, Ashley is a 2008 JCHS graduate, Laura is a senior at JCHS, and Erin and Shannon who currently attend St. Anastasia. David and his family are members of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and enjoy offshore fishing and diving.

Everyone enjoyed the Homecoming 2008 events! This year for the first time we established a Homecoming Committee with members including teachers, parents, students, and administration. Thank you to teacher and Student Government Sponsor, Student Government Sponsor, Ineitza StromakIneitza Stromak, for coordinating the school events. , for coordinating the school events. Numerous other activities were held during the week of fun and festivities! Homecoming is a time to celebrate the school’s history and for the students to enjoy a week of entertainment.
Students started getting into the homecoming spirit on Monday and were allowed a week
to dress out of dress code. The “dress up” days included Sports Day, Nerd Day, Neon Day, Decade Day, and Ram Pride Day. Each day we had almost 100% participation from the student body.
This traditional event was held on Thursday afternoon. Students and sponsors stayed for hours after school decorating a designated area. The hallways and cafeteria looked great!
The Anchor Club’s Annual Italian Dinner was also held on Thursday in the JCHS cafeteria and was a huge success, grossing over $2,000. The money will be used to support Anchor Club service projects throughout the year. Mr. Ron Baliton, a parent of a JCHS freshman, won the 50/50 raffle for $105 and graciously donated it all back to the Anchor Club.
A packed gymnasium enjoyed games, skits, cheerleading performances, drumline music, singing of the alma mater, a performance of the fight song by Evan FrazerEvan Frazer, introduction of the football team and homecoming court, and recognition of all the seniors who participated in the fall sports and their parents. The SGA organized games with six different teams including one from each grade level, a parent/alumni team, and a faculty team. Congratulations to the Seniors for winning the spirit stick!
This year, the alumni enjoyed playing their own football game on campus prior to the high school game. We look forward to continuing this event and including more alumni players next year.
Alumni and their families enjoyed visiting with one another while dining on an outstanding buffet dinner. They were also treated to numerous gifts, children’s toys, drinks, and dessert.
It was the largest gathering of alumni at the homecoming football game in years!
John Carroll’s team fought hard until the end, overcoming a 10 point deficit. All players were pushed to the limit and played their hearts out in the 20-17 game loss.

Mary (Cairns) McAvoy’s Mary (Cairns) McAvoy’s youngest daughter, Tracey, married Justin Morabito on August 2, 2008, at Church of the Holy Spirit in Webster, NY. Justin proposed to Tracey on the boardwalk at Melbourne Beach and almost dropped the ring in the sand as they watched the sunrise on her birthday. Included as members of the wedding party were her sisters, Kelly Salamone and Mary Beth McAvoy; niece, Taylor Salamone; cousins, Kathy and Jeannie McAvoy; Justin’s daughter, Kieran and nephew Nicholas Salamone. The couple resides in Webster, NY, and is sure to be frequent visitors to Palm Bay. Friends are welcome to contact Mary at [email protected].
Susan (Hodges) Ferrer Susan (Hodges) Ferrer has been married to her husband, Orlando Ferrer, for 28 years. They met at the University of Florida where Susan majored in Early Childhood Education. Susan has owned and operated Naples Preschool Academy for five years where 106 happy toddlers attend. Orlando retired from the oil industry after 22 years, as an Industrial and Systems Engineer, and the couple has since moved to Naples. They have a son, Orlando (18) who is a freshmen at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and a member of the men’s tennis team. Susan and Orlando like to travel and recently celebrated Susan’s 50th birthday at the French Open in Paris. Susan says hi to all her friends from JCHS. Friends can email her at [email protected].
Terry (Potenza) Fesler Terry (Potenza) Fesler has started a new carreer with Treasure Coast Hospice, after working 24 wonderful years at Jackson Drugs. She and her husband John will celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary on April 13, 2009. Their son Gregory is 11 years old and is in the 6th grade at St. Anastasia. Matthew “Matt” Croghan, died October 14, 2008, in Tallahassee, Florida. Matt was born in Queens, NY, in 1961. He was a graduate of Washburn University of Topeka and obtained his Masters in Public Administration in 1986 from Florida State. In 1993, he gained his second Masters in Civil Engineering. He pursued his love of public service through his work with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, where he received numerous awards for excellence in safety awareness. Matt had a great love for outdoor activities with his family, especially kayaking, fishing, and going to the beach. Matt loved history and taking his family to historical sites on their family vacations. Matt will be missed by his wife of 19 years, Carol; a daughter, Madeline; a son, Sammy; his father and mother, Dr. Charles and Rosemary Croghan; his brother Luke and his wife Linda; his aunt Norma Clark; and his cousin Norman-Peter Sproch.
Warren Raymond Knowles, 61, died November 15, 2008, at the St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was a 1965 alumni. Warren was born in Levittown, New York, and had been a resident of Port St. Lucie for over 35 years. He attended Indian River Community College and was a graduate of the University of Florida. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and was a Vice President with Seacoast National Bank in Stuart where he was employed for more than 27 years. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Kathy; a son Michael; daughters Diana, Christy and Nicci; his mother Frances and three grandchildren, Colby, Maddie, and Clayton. He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Sr. and a brother, Raymond.
Epistimi “Eppy” Peperides Kiger, 56, died November 8, 2008, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Eppy was born on March 3, 1952, in Detroit, MI. and moved to Vero Beach 13 years ago from Orlando, Fl. She was a graduate of the University of Florida, Class of ‘78 receiving a degree in Graphic Art. Mrs. Kiger had most recently been a Law Librarian at the St. Lucie County Courthouse. She was a parishoner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Russell T. Kiger; son Russell T. Kiger, Jr., currently attending the University of Miami; daughter Gabrielle Kiger, currently attending Seton Hall University; her mother Dillie Peperides; sister and brother-in-law Angela and Mark Grones; and mother and father-in-law Betsey and Bob Lurie. She was preceded in death by her father Ernie Peperides.
Sister Rose Germaine Guettler, formerly known as Germaine Guettler, died on October 24, 2008, at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Michigan. She was 96 years of age and in the 80th year of her religious profession in the Adrian Dominican Congregation. Sister Rose Germaine was born in Cologne, Minnesota, to Edward and Elizabeth (Ritten) Guettler. Sister graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian, Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Barry College (University) and a Master of Education degree from the University of Florida. She spent 75 years ministering in education in Detroit, Michigan; Miami Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee, Miami Beach, Miami Shores, Ft. Pierce, Miami, and Vero Beach. She was principal of Blessed Sacrament School in Tallahassee from 1952 to 1958, and St. Helen School in Vero Beach from 1973 to 1980. Sister was Congregation School Supervisor for seven years, and Supervisor for the Archdiocese of Miami for three years. She was a Reading Consultant at St. Anastasia School in Ft. Pierce for two years, and a Special Reading teacher for 15 years at Trinity Catholic in Tallahassee. Sister became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in Adrian in 2004. Sister Rose Germaine is survived by two sisters, Dolores Jacquin and Marie Hoeffner, both of Ft. Pierce; and 71 nieces and nephews. Two nieces are Adrian Dominican Sisters, Sister Dorothy Guettler and Sister Rose Bernadette Hoeffner.
Donna Dickson, 46, died October 1, 2008. Donna was a 1979 alumni. She was born in Fort Pierce and was a home health care nurse. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson, Ga., and was a member of the Jubalheirs. Survivors include her husband, Richard; and half-brother, Paul Finger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Compton Finger.

The Class of 1989 will be having its 20-year reunion the weekend of July 17-19, 2009. There will be a social at Cobb’s Landing on Friday evening, July 17th. On Saturday, there will be an alumni and family lunch, as well as a golf outing for the avid golfers in the group. On Saturday evening there will be a semiformal dinner and dance at Gator Trace Country Club from 6:30-11:30PM. The dinner will be buffet style, and there will be a DJ and a cash bar. On Sunday there will be a brunch at John Carroll High school, followed by a tour of the school. Be on the lookout for a mailing with specific details, event cost, and registration instructions. The Cross Country teams at John Carroll had an outstanding 2008 season. The hard work and dedication of the athletes along with the outstanding support from the parents helped make this a successful year. The boys’ team accomplished the ultimate by qualifying for the “ Big Dance” or the State Finals in the 1A division. The team had a season best average time and placed 22nd in the event. The team also won the runner-up trophy in the District 1A finals and took 6th place in the Regional championship meet. Danny IrizarryDanny Irizarry won individual honors at the St Lucie County Championships (5th) and the District 1A Championships (15th). They beat long time rivals Melbourne Central Catholic in three of the four meetings this year, finished second in the silver division at the Cardinal Gibbons Tournament, and won the Copper division at the Disney Classic. With a whole new team on the floor this year they were able to carry on John Carroll tradition and beat most teams on the Treasure Coast. Also as impressive, the team won 1st place in the grade point average classification for class 3A, with a team GPA average of 3.682.
