Safety AdvisoryDeschutes River Pringle Falls
September 2, 2009, 4:00pm: The Deschutes County Sheri� ’s O� ce is advising the public that the area of the Deschutes River near the Pringle Falls footbridge is extremely hazardous at this time and should be considered impassable. The river area immediately upstream from the footbridge is currently spanned from bank-to-bank by a large tree. This tree span is approximately 60’ feet in length, with portions of the tree submerged. Additional debris is beginning to collect around this tree, making the river impassable. With the current water � ow, this area again should be considered extremely dangerous. The Deschutes County Sheri� ’s O� ce is cautioning all recreation users of the Deschutes River and other waterways in the area to use extreme caution when attempting to navigate these waters. If you are unfamiliar with an area, or simply have not been in or around the water you are attempting to navigate, you should always scout the waterway � rst and observe the current conditions and any hazards to navigation. The Deschutes County Sheri� ’s O� ce will be making contact with other Federal, State and local agencies in an attempt to mitigate this danger. For more information call 541-388-6655.
