Israel's The Other Store to Close, Pave Way for Klingman's ExpansionNo jobs will be lost inrestructuring
Responding to economic conditions,real estate trends, and customerpreferences, Israels has implementeda broadranging strategic plan toimprove the company's short andlong-term prospects.
Although the plan involves closingThe Other Store furniture clearancecenter, no jobs will be lost in therestructuring - because other usesare immediately planned for this andother Israel's properties. Companyofficials believe that the improvedefficiencies and economies providedby the plan will creat oportunitiesthat will allow the company to furtherexpand in size and employment.
"In times like these it is criticalto take a hard, objective look at
all aspects of our business todetermine how we can best allocateall our resources," says Bob Israels,the company's President.
The Other Store located at 769Seward NW in Grand Rapids beganoffering merchandise at storeliquidation rates on March 18,2010. Proceeds will immediatelyconvert to working capital.
Plans are in the works to triplefloor space at Klingman's inWyoming for the Rock BottomShop, currently offering clearancemerchandise.
"We believe by expanding theclearance center in Wyoming, wewill attract customers who've nevershopped at that location," statesLee Leithauser, Klingman's VP ofSales.
Plans for the future. Thereare plans to add ThomasvilleGallery to Klingman's inventorin the near future. ThomasvillGallery was a very popular linat Klingman's of Michigan.Israel's plans to bring the qualifurniture line back to it'sWyoming Klingman's location 28th Street.
