Faster and cheaper to deploy than fiber solutions

The same solution based on PTP600 Wireless with all civials costs £2.5 and is much faster to deploy

CCTV with Zoom pan and tilt cameras

Fiber costs about £4 Million to deploy over 20 miles with civil works for a CCTV network

Shetland Islands Local Authority

The ResultDelivery of Voice over IP, video & data services at reduced costLink availability of 99.999%. No failures reported since installation in Oct ‘04 Elimination of local servers in schools – further lowering ICT costs. The ‘human’ effect: providing a much more cost effective way of delivering a high-tech schooling environment for pupils & staff - “this wouldn’t have been possible any other way”

The ChallengeThe Shetlands Islands Council needed connectivity between the council headquarters and 2 new schools in order to provide telephony, IT functions, CCTV, and high tech classroom aids. The solution could be funded from capital budget but could not have recurring yearly running costs. The only viable alternative was a leased line and this solution was uneconomic owing to the additional physical challenges of distance and a long over water path.

Requirements•Voice, Video & Data connectivity•High availability & reliability •Low running cost

The SolutionIntegrated and Connectorised versions of 60mbps backhauls which provided the reliability & bandwidth required, even on long over water links.
