Maternal-Fetal MedicineOur Maternal-Fetal Medicine program focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of expectant mothers and their fetuses who may experience problems during pregnancy. Our specialized physicians provide high-risk pregnancy care, perinatal consultations, fetal testing, obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasounds as well as other advanced genetic/non-genetic services— right here in Erie.

Certified Nurse MidwivesFor centuries, many women have utilized the skills and insights of midwives for assistance and support in childbirth. At Saint Vincent, our certified nurse midwives provide comprehensive care throughout pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. The benefits of a Saint Vincent nurse midwife include:

• A personal, more holistic style of care with a lower rate of interventions, such as labor- inducing medications and cesarean sections

• Full service care, 24/7

• 1-to-3 patient/midwife ratio, so expectant mothers know who will deliver their babies

• Support for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section (VBAC)

• Availability of water births

• OB/GYN physicians are ready for consultation or referral, if needed

Colorectal HealthAt Saint Vincent, we provide women with individualized care for colon and rectal health. Our board-certified experts specialize in traditional and advanced colonoscopies and laparoscopic colorectal surgery. They also offer comprehensive evaluation, medical management and treatment of all colorectal issues. From bowel control problems and pelvic floor disorders to lowering your risk of colorectal cancer, you’ll find our physicians deliver the highest quality care in a comfortable, approachable atmosphere.

Pelvic HealthFor most of our lives, we take continence—the voluntary control of bladder or bowel functions—for granted. But when illness, injury or surgery result in loss of full control, it can be devastating. The Saint Vincent Center for Pelvic Health was designed to address these issues and provide comprehensive care for a broad spectrum of conditions. Our multidisciplinary pelvic health team includes primary care physicians, obstetrician-gynecologists, urologists, colorectal specialists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, physiatrists, anesthesiologists, a physical therapist certified in pelvic muscle dysfunction, and a pelvic health navigator. Together, they work with each patient to design the optimal treatment plan.

Breast HealthWhether it is a routine mammogram or suspicion of breast cancer, we believe no woman should have to wait. That’s why we have created the region’s first streamlined breast health continuum. The results of your mammogram are sent to your physician within 24 hours. And, should you need additional imaging, biopsy or surgical consultation, our breast health nurse navigator guides you through this process in about two weeks. Advanced mammography and sonography technologies are in place at the Saint Vincent Women’s Center at 311 West 24 Street. The Women’s Center provides a welcoming, comfortable environment with complete respect for your privacy. As the region’s premier provider of breast health information, diagnostics and surgery, Saint Vincent is truly your partner in the battle against breast cancer.

Gynecologic Oncology Saint Vincent continues to be the region’s first choice for specialized women’s surgical care, offering women affected by gynecologic cancers treatment options close to home. Our Gynecologic Oncology program offers access to the most advanced treatment and care management options for women with reproductive cancer including breast, ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancers. Gynecologic Oncology integrates radiation and chemotherapy with pelvic surgery to provide total care for gynecologic oncology patients. Minimally invasive surgical techniques are used whenever possible, utilizing the da Vinci® surgical system.
