Woodbury Park Showcase: Nonnewaug Falls

Woodbury recently became one of the newest Bronze Certified towns in CT. Please

check out the town's profile on the Sustainable CT website to see all of the actions taken

to reach this level. Be on the lookout in the new year for a discussion with the

Sustainable CT team to find out more about this great program!

Way to go, Woodbury!

Located in the northeast corner of

Woodbury on the border of

Bethlehem you will find a trail

through fields and woods leading to

a beautiful waterfall.

From New England Waterfalls: AGuide To More Than 400 Cascadesand Waterfalls: "The falls are

surrounded by rich moss and other

vegetation which lends a bold green

color to the hemlock-shrouded

ravine. The 18-foot drop begins as a

horsetail before gracefully spilling

away from the underlying rock face

for a final 7-foot plunge, landing in a

waist-deep pool." Go enjoy this

beautiful hike today!

Address: Falls Road, Woodbury

Did you know...there was an archealogical dig of a

mine right here in Woodbury? Completed over 3

days in September, rock samples were collected

from the mine floor and were brought to the CT

Museum of Mining and Mineral Science in Kent

where Curator John Pawloski will analyze the

rocks for mineral content.

Once we know the nature of the samples,

a report will be issued.

Stay tuned!
