What Participants ThoughtComments • I loved all the discussion and exercises around structuring the text based on a key message, 5 W's, 3 bullet

points, etc• I will be using the pyramid to structure my writing moving forwards• I enjoyed the class and was glad we had practical exercises to practice the skills we were learning• Very good course with superb trainer good shared experiences with group will increase my awareness of the

importance of structure, the words I use etc• It was fun and informative, and it made me re-evaluate the writing process altogether• The course was positive, interactive, and I learned a lot on writing technique• I liked the "Power of 3" and will use that• The course is useful in improving how we communicate internally and externally• I had a great time learning a new skill and the skills have definitely been embedded in my mind • It was useful and I learnt some valuable tools that I will be able to implement in my daily work• Very good. To be concise and clear is difficult but so much more effective at getting goals achieved• I think the course was very valuable, and I learned the best ways to properly structure my writing for business

communication• The course was very enjoyable. I learned how less it is more when communicating through emails. It also

confirmed some of my existing thoughts about corporate language, acronyms and working in a multicultural company where English is not the native language for many employees

• Had a great time in the class and learned how to structure emails and presentation in order to make my point and get my agenda across without losing my audience

• I enjoyed the exercises, interaction with other participants and will apply the tools learnt to my day-to-day activities

What Participants ThoughtFood for thought • Change the tractor exercise. I would have liked something more directly applicable to my current job• Change the corn reading exercise to something more business relevant• Some of the videos were the same as the corporate communications course which I attended the day before• Some of the information was the same as the course "Corporate communication skills"• The course could be condensed to half day instead of being a full day course.• Too much time spent on writing exercise that could of been better doing shorter exercises more relevant to

workplace email, etc• I would have preferred more exercises on structuring content rather than highlighting where others have not

done so• The reading materials was bit long• Some exercises were too long • The proofreading exercise was too long• The email writing example did not seem to apply to our corporate environment, or at least the participants

environments. This reduced its value• Would have been good to have a copy of the slides to take notes during the class or having the slides sent to

me ahead of time

What Participants ThoughtPositive comments • What I have learned from the course. 1. Making the message clear from the very start. 2. Knowing your

audience 3. Knowing the essential part of your presentation• I learned how to focus on key subjects and organize my speech. I learned body language and tone is just or

more important as my material• I have worked at Thomson Reuters for over 15 years, and this was the most valuable TR course I've ever taken• I learned more at this workshop than any other training courses that are offered at Thomson Reuters• Very positive, very engaging, open environment for trying new skills and a great refresher of the • A well run course with an good mix of lecture/discussion/presentation, and good practical feedback• I was inspired by the session and learned a lot• Using real video during training was the real value add• I found it helpful in that it allowed us to evaluate our speech patterns. On a day to day basis, rarely do we think

about how we sound to others, so it was nice to gain insight into that• It was an amazing course with amazing trainers. Highly recommended to all employees• I found it very useful, interesting and engaging• Very good. Impressed. I learnt how to communicate more effectively with presentations and public speaking• The course gave a tookit of resources and links to further information. The knowledge of what does and does

not work in communication was very thought provoking• Excellent and will be sending team members• Very good advice communicated in an informal way and each trainer did their best to make you feel at ease• The overall experience was extremely positive. Especially the practical part helped me to understand how to

correctly and successfully communicate

What Participants ThoughtFood for thought • I watch TED videos all the time and I had already seen that one• Whilst the video from a TED talk was interesting, I'm not sure how relevant it was. I guess it was a bit long and

took away from evaluating everyone's presentations• The TED talk video we watched was not as good as others I have seen• I would add more conference call meeting exercise, virtual presentations • I would reduce the volume of handouts• Would like the workshop to be longer• I wanted to have more tips how to handle challenging questions during a presentation: we haven't talked about

that during the session• The PowerPoint slides were not very good (too small font on the screen) and it would have been beneficial to

have a handout of slides/material to take our notes on• The course should be run as a 2 day course with more time for the practical exercise• Nowadays, we give fewer in person presentations, most meetings are virtual/WebEx. Therefore, the focus on in

person presentations may not be as applicable to lots of people• The videoconferencing discussion was the least valuable to me because I never give that type of presentation

in my current job• The lack of takeaway material• The quality of the course material could have been better

What Participants ThoughtTrainer lime light • Paul gave us several techniques that are "gold rules". I will apply all of them in my meetings and

presentations.• Doug was a great facilitator and brought insightful real-world experiences to the group.• I thought the instructor was very engaging, funny, and personable. He seemed to have a lot of experience:

Doug Stone• It was fantastic. The instructor, Sharon Reich, was excellent• Sarah's structure, ethos and pathos tools, repetitions, body language styles, etc were great• Very positive, the instructors were extremely knowledgeable: Mike Riley
