Plantation on Backfilled Area at Panandhro Lignite Mine
Total area on which plantation carried out is : App. 300 hector.
Modalities adopted for plantation . On excavated area , ash evacuated from power plant is
being utilized to fill up the area.
After filling the by ash , area is being covered by top soil having layer of 2.5 to 3.0 feet. Here the soil utilised is the same which has excavated to get approach to lignite.
On this area plantation is carried out .
Growth of plantation is found same as it is on normal soil.
Trees generally grows on this land. A). Pilu B). Goras Ambli. C). Desi Baboon. D). Ram Baboon.
Akrimota Power Project
GMDC has implemented 2 X 125 MW Akrimota Thermal Power Project at village Nani
Chher, Taluka Lakhapat, Dist. Kutchh, Gujarat State.
Both the units have been in commercial operation since March, 2007. It is a pit head lignite based thermal power plant getting lignite from its own mines at Panandhro.
The water requirement for the power plant is taken from the nearest Kori Creek through a 1.4k.m.long sea water intake channel. The CFBC boiler is used here as it is environment friendly and controls sulfur in the flue gas emission. A 100 metre green belt surrounds the entire site.
Ash production remains around 12-14 % of total lignite feeding , same is being transported to mines , now we are planning to sale it to near by cement industries .

Ash cooler for cooling of bed Ash coming out from Boiler . 1.Generally bed ash coming out from boiler contains higher temperature hence it is essential to cool it down to atmospheric temperature before it gets discharged to atmosphere. 2.Each boilers having two ash coolers which is equipped with cooling coils in which desal water gets circulated . Which carries heat of ash and it goes to second stage for further cooling . Water remains in closed circuit . 3.Also fluidizing nozzle are provided inside the Ash cooler so that whatever the ash comes inside the ash cooler gets fluidized and hot ash gets cooled within short period.

Fly Ash :- Flyash generated from ESP ,We have Installed 14 field 02 pass ESP for Each unit which have the Pneumatic Ash conveying system
Electrostatic precipitator
Intermediate system for optimum utilisation of ash to boiler having size of -2 mm as for bed charging.
Ash can be gainfully utilized as :
Stowing material in Underground
Mines.
Filling material for reclamation of
abandoned mines.
Filler material along-with
overburden of an operating mines.

Fly Ash utilisation last FY : 16-17.
Note :More Ash utilization comes attributed to shifting of ash accumulated in earlier years, also water gets
mixed up before weighment and shifting to mines for fugitive dust control.

Migratory birds during winter season
Matanamadh mines
It is proposed to convert this filled mine to a visiting place for Mining Engg students of not only from Gujarat but also from all across the India.
Preparation of a training gallery.
To built a model room where machinery/ equipment/mining processes involved during mining will be displayed.
Sequence wise mining operation process will be displayed with pictorial representation.
A 10KM long driving lane starting from the mouth of the pit up to the external dump covering the entire backfilled areas surrounded by dense forest (plantation)
A beautiful garden in front of the ADM building with proof of fossils & the rock mass handled during the mining process.
A kitchen garden where vegetables for the self consumption of the staff will be available.
Will encourage entrepreneur for public
partnership business.
To develop paver block.
To develop ventilation block.
And for bricks manufacturing.
Indian coal presents high ash content generally
which tends to be inconsistent.
Design of the system has to adequately cover
anticipated variations and be capable of handling
the worst scenario.
Handling required great care to avoid spillage to
protect environment.
No bricks manufacturing unit in nearby area.
Plant situated at remote place.
Central government and state government policy
can help for increasing ash utilization,
For development of reclaimed area can be used
as tourism place.
