VGB WORKSHOP “FLUE GAS CLEANING 2013”

ROTTERDAM | THE NETHERLANDS

The annual VGB Workshop on Flue Gas Cleaning is organised by the VGB European Working Group “Flue Gas Cleaning”. It provides a platform for VGB members, and other interested experts, to gain information and discuss developments in pollutant abatement and to gain experience in operation of flue gas cleaning installations.

This year's workshop covers a wide range of flue gas cleaning aspects. For the NOx reduction CFD modelling of fluidized bed combustion, the influence of low load operation and catalyst management will be shown as well as practical experiences in coal and wood combustion. Experiences in the USA show that for catalyst management the improvement and maintaining of mercury oxidation levels have to be considered. The retrofitting of SCR to SNCR technology will be presented, too.

Possibilities for improved dust separation with ESP and bag filtering will be shown as well as the consequences for FGD operation for fine particle separation and efficiency increasing of desulphurization plants.

The legislative part deals with updating the BREF-LCP, process which has been started end of 2011, and the new developments in long-range transboundary air pollution.

Presentations by international specialists provide a basis for discussions for all participants of the workshop.

The workshop includes a visit of Maasvlakte power plant.
