Use (ÿhe descriptions below to IDENTIFY, LABEL & HIGHLIGHT each of the remaining currents on your map. (Some of the currents are ALREADY labeled & just need to be highlighted) Label each current with a BLACK PEN. Write small!! Highlight the WARM currents RED and highlight the COLD currents BLUE. WARM Currents a. North Equatorial Currents - WARM ocean currents that flow from east to west just above the Equator. Start to turn clockwise when they reach the edge of a continent. b. South Equatorial Currents - WARM ocean currents that flow from east to west just below the Equator. Start to turn counterclockwise when they reach the edge of a continent. c. Alaskan Current - WARM ocean current that flows northwest just off the coast of Alaska then turns southwest. d. Gulf Stream - WARM ocean current that flows northeast along east coast of the United States from Miami, up the Carolinas to New England. e. N. Atlantic Current - WARM ocean current that is a continuation of the Gulf Stream. It flows northeast across the Atlantic Ocean, then turns south just before reaching the British Isles. f, Norwegian Current- WARM ocean current that is a continuation of the N. Atlantic current. It flows northeast along the Scandinavian countries and into the Arctic Ocean. g. Somali Current - WARM ocean current just off the eastern coast of Africa that flows northeast then turns south just before it reaches India. h. Kuroshio Current - WARM ocean current just off the coast of Japan. It is a continuation of the North Equatorial Current. It swings north then eastward out into the Pacific Ocean. i. N. Pacific Current- WARM ocean current found in the northern Pacific Ocean. It is a continuation of the Kuroshio current. It crosses the Pacific from northern Japan to the tiÿ of Alaska where it feeds into the Alaskan current. j. E. Australian Current- WARM ocean current found along the eastern coast of Australia. It extends south from the S. Equatorial Current, passing to the west of New Zealand, and ending at the southern-most part of New Zealand. k. Brazilian Current - WARM ocean current that flows southward along the eastern coast of South America. It then begins to turn east toward Africa, I. Aguihas Current- WARM ocean current found off the southeast coast of Africa. It is a continuation of the S. Equatorial current. It flows south, and when it reaches the southern-most tip of Africa it splits in two.

WARM Currentsa. North Equatorial Currents - WARM ocean currents that flow from east to west just above the

k. Brazilian Current - WARM ocean current that flows southward along the eastern coast of SouthAmerica. It then begins to turn east toward Africa,

COLD Currentsm. Arctic Ocean Currents - COLD ocean currents that travel completely around the world in the

Arctic ocean from east to west.n. Alaskan Coastal Currents - COLD ocean currents that flows northeast along the northern coast

of Alaska & North America and into the Arctic Ocean.o. Labrador Current- COLD ocean current that flows southeast between Canada and Greenland,

down west of Nova Scotia.p. Greenland Current- COLD ocean current that flows southwest between Greenland and Iceland

then turns northwest once it reaches the southern tip of Greenland.q. California Current - COLD ocean current that flows south along the western coast of North

America. Flows into the N. Equatorial Current.r. Canary Current- COLD ocean current that is a continuation of the N. Atlantic Current. It flows

southward from Portugal along the northern coast of Africa and feeds into the N. Equatorial

Current.s. Oyashio Current- COLD ocean current flows south through the Bering Strait, along the general

outline of the continent of Asia to near northern Japan.t. Peru Current- COLD ocean current found along the western coast of South America. It begins

at the southern-most part of the west coast. It is fed by the West Wind Drift. It flows northalong the entire western coast of South America and feeds into the S. Equatorial Current.

u. Benguela Current - COLD ocean current that branches off the West Wind Drift just east of thesouthern tip of South America. It flows north along the coast of Africa and feeds into the S.

Equatorial Current.v." W. Australian Current - COLD current found along the western coast of Australia. Flows north

then turns northwest into the Indian Ocean and feeds into the S. Equatorial Current.w. West Wind Drifts - COLD ocean currents that travel completely around the world in the

Southern Ocean from west to east. Feed into the Peru, Benguela & E. Australian currents.x. East Wind Drifts- COLD ocean currents that travel completely around the world in the

Southern Ocean from east to west.
