Concrete should be aged for 28 days and screeds should be aged for 7 daysCementitious surfaces can develop plastic shrinkage cracks during initial curing which must be totally formed before the membrane is applied. Time must also be allowed for the development of efflorescence which must be removed before the membrane application.

Ensure substrate is dry (5% moisture or less)

High substrate moisture content will form blisters in the membrane during curing.

Seal wet or freshly laid concrete with ARDEX WPM 300Allow to cure overnight. Provides a concrete curing membrane and barrier coat.

Priming for Waterproofing

Porous surfaces are primed to consolidate residual dust and reduce the porosity of the substrate to

avoid excessively fast interface drying and blistering of the membrane

Wet or fresh concrete, PVC and metal are primed to provide a barrier between the substrate and the

membrane

All cementitious substrates should be primed with ARDEX WPM 265 Water Based Primer at a rate of 6m2/L

Highly porous substrates may require 2 coats PVC should be primed with pink plumbers primer Metal surfaces should be primed with a two pack epoxy

zinc phosphate primer If moisture content is too high or concrete is freshly laid,

use ARDEX WPM 300 water based epoxy as a barrier coating

Allow primer to dry prior to waterproofing
