Upgrades : IBI regional systems (PSY2 (MERCATOR) & ESEOAT (PdE) V1)

• PSY2V2 (V0) to PSY2V3 (V1) :

- Best vertical resolution : 50 z-levels (1m in surface) - New tripolar grid : ORCA 1/12° (OPA 9) - Filtered free surface- CLIO bulk formula to recalculate atm. fluxes- LIM ice model coupling- Upgrades of assimilation : SEEK filter- Validation of the forecasts / satellite and in situ data following the criteria of WP4

• ESEOAT :

- Operational system- 4 to 5 km resolution- Tests of different OBC : MERCATOR, FOAM, MFSTEP- Restart strategy to optimize the daily forecast results- Provide OBC for nested systems (METEOGALICIA)- Development of new scheme for real time validation

Upgrades : Iberian coastal area (IST-MOHID & METEOGALICIA-MOHID V1)

• IST-MOHID (Western Iberian coast)

- Operational system with PSY2 (MERCATOR) OBC- upgrade in assimilation : development of SFEK and SEEK filter in MOHID- Upgrades of run-offs : Tagus, Mondego & Guadiana- Upgrades of atm. forcings : MM5 (9km resolution)- Results available via OpenDAP server- Validation of the forecasts / satellite and in situ data following the criteria of WP4

- Operational system with ESEOAT (PdE) OBC- Upgrades of run-offs- Upgrades of atm. forcings : heat flux adjustment, interpolation scheme from meteo to ocean grid

Few informations about the upgrades of this system ...

• Other initial and boundary conditions have been tested : - PSY2 OBC for TS / Reynaud climatology

- MOG2D OBC for SSH / 2D larger IFREMER model (red box in fig)

• Validation of the forecasts in real time / satellite SST (SAFO)

• A finer resolution of 1km is planned

• TS (in situ & satellite) assimilation is planned

Upgrades : Irish shelf area (IMI-NE-Atlantic V1 : IMI)

• A new rotated domain => boundaries located in deep water, avoiding intersecting either Hatton or Rockall Banks => tidal boundary condition much more accurate => best forecasts of SSH on the Irish coast

Task T5.4

• Validation of the forecasts in real time / tide gauge data, radiometer SST & ARGO float profiles of TS

• Output netcdf files in standard COARDS format

• An OpenDAP server soon ready for the TOP exp.

• 2 runs / week => a best prediction of storm surge sea levels
