Hello!My name is Goran Nuskern

Tehnička škola Ruđera Boškovića, Zagreb

[email protected]

Tehnička škola Ruđera Boškovića (Ruđer Bošković Technical School) was founded in 1948 under the name Optical School. It soon expanded the area of education it covers on precision engineering.

After moving to a new building at its current location, the school began to be named after Ruđer Bošković. In 1962, the School expanded its scope of activities to the field ofelectronics, and later computing.

After several formal changes of names and theintroduction of new programmes, in 1996 the school, as the first educational institution in Croatia, started with theeducation of technicians for mechatronics.

WHO ARE WE?

WHO ARE WE?

Today we educate students, through four-year regular education and adult education, for the occupations of:

technician for ophthalmic optics,

technician for electronics,

technician for computing,

technician for mechatronics.

School and Economy

The school was established in order to createprofessionals for companies in the field of opticsand precision mechanics. There was a steady andstrong connection between the needs of the economy and schools

School and Economy

School

The number of occupations and students increased. But then there was a collapse of the economy and this connection was almost completely lost. This is only one reason behind the outdatedness of equipment in our laboratories, workshop terminations and reductions in the number hours of practical training.

School and Economy

The weakening of links with the economy caused a

shutdown of the school’s education for three-year

occupations.

On our own initiative, the school, without any input from

the industry, moved into new areas, first more strongly

into IT, and later into mechatronics (1996).

This proved to be a wise decision.

But we faced a lack of equipment and knowledge in new

technologies.

In 2003, the Government approved a projectthat equipped the School and a Center for newtechnologies was founded.

At the time, great support came from the company Elektro-Kontakt.

School and Economy

Task

• improving the quality of knowledge of our students and students fromother schools that attend our exercises,

• Continuous education of our teachers, and teachers from otherschools,

• Additional education of employees from manufacturing companies,

• Retraining of unemployed persons,

• Standardisation of exercises,

• Authoring manuals for students and teachers.

Center for New Technologies

EU PROJECTS

After years of unsuccessful attempts to obtainfunds to complete the equipping of the Center,

the School turned to EU funding.
