How to Use This GuideThis guide provides everything you need to know to rideYCAT’s bus routes. Here’s how to use it.
1. Use the downtown Yuma route map (Page X) and thesystemwide map (found in the centerfold of the guide)to identify the route or routes that connect the placesyou wish to travel between.
2. Use the table of contents on the cover to find the pagefor your route(s). For each route, the guide includes adetailed route map and a timetable for each directionof travel.
3. The individual route maps will show majordestinations and timepoints along the route. Thelocations where transfers can be made will also beshown on the route map.
4. The timetables shows when the bus serves majorstops along the route (timepoints). The timepoints areshown across the top of the timetable. Select thetimetable for your direction of travel. Then read downfrom the timepoint where you will be boarding to seewhat times the bus will serve that stop. Then read tothe right to see when it will reach your destinationstop.
5. The bus also serves many other stops in between thetimepoints. Use the timepoint before your stop toestimate the time the bus will reach your stop andthen be at the stop 5 minutes early as travel timesmay vary.
6. Please note that not all trips operate on Saturday. Thetimetable will indicate which trips run on Saturday.

Cómo usar esta guíaEsta guía incluye todo lo que necesita saber para viajarpor las rutas de autobús de YCAT. Aquí le indicamos cómousar el servicio.
1. Con el mapa de rutas del centro de Yuma (página X) yel mapa de todo el sistema (que se encuentra en elcentro de esta guía), identifique la ruta o las rutas queconectan los lugares entre los que quiere viajar.
2. En el índice de la portada, ubique la páginacorrespondiente a sus rutas. Esta guía ofrece un mapade ruta detallado para cada ruta y un horario paracada dirección de viaje.
3. Los mapas de rutas individuales muestran losprincipales destinos y horarios a lo largo de la ruta. Enel mapa de rutas también se indicarán los lugaresdonde se pueden efectuar trasbordos.
4. Los horarios indican a qué hora pasa el autobús porlas principales paradas a lo largo de la ruta, las cualesaparecen en la parte superior del horario. Seleccioneel horario correspondiente a su dirección de viaje.Luego lea a partir de la parada en la que quiereabordar el autobús para ver a qué horas pasará elautobús por esa parada. Flexible ServiceBrown Route 3 provides flexible mini-bus service throughout most of Fortuna Foothills and Mesa Del Sol. The bus will take you anywhere in the route zone shown on the map orto a timed transfer with Orange Route 2 at AWC/NAU/UA.■ You can catch the bus at the timepoints shown on the schedule for the regular fare.■ You can be picked up at your door by calling (928) 783-2235 at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the trip. (Reservations can be made up to 24 hours in advance.) There is
an additional $2.00 fee for being picked up at your door. ■ Please note that the vehicle may arrive up to 5 minutes before or after your scheduled pick-up time.■ For reserved pickups: Latest allowable reservation is 5:20 PM on weekdays.
Latest allowable reservation is 1:50 PM on Saturdays.
Gold Route 8 can flex off route to pick up or drop off passegers up to 1-1/2 mile on either side of the route. How to Ride YCATBus Stops: YCAT buses only stop atsigned bus stops. Flag stops are notpermitted. A complete bus stop list foreach route is available on our website atwww.ycat.az.gov or pick up a bus stopGuide on the bus.
Catching the Bus: Be at the bus 5 minutes before thescheduled departure. Make sure the driver can see you.Check the headsign on the front of the bus to insure youboard the correct route.
Paying your Fare: Be ready to pay your fare or presentyour pass when you board. Exact fare only. Bus Operatorscannot make change.
Exiting the Bus: When you see your destination ortransfer point, signal the bus operator, by pulling the cordnear the window, pushing the yellow strip or calling out“next stop”. Please provide enough notice, so that the busoperator can stop safely. If you are not familiar with thearea, ask the bus operator for assistance.
Flex Route Deviations: On some routes you can requestto be picked up or dropped off at locations betweenregularly schedule bus stops. Deviations are available:
■ Anywhere along Brown Route 3 within the FortunaFoothills.
■ Blue Route 5 within the Fort Yuma Indian Reservationand within 3/4 mile radius of the actual route.
■ Purple Route 6A within the Cocopah IndianReservations.
■ Gold Route 8 within 1-1/2 mile radius of the actualroute.
For deviated drop off, just ask your bus operator. To bepicked up, call (928) 783-2235, at least one hour prior tothe bus coming by your location to request a deviation.Deviations are limited to the first four (4) requests per oneway trip. Please call ahead to cancel if the deviation is nolonger needed to allow another person the opportunityto ride.
Night Owl: At night, upon request, the bus operator canstop at a location that is closer to your final destinationrather than the regular stop. The bus operator willdetermine where it is safe to pull over.
Bicycles: Bicycle racks are located on thefront of all YCAT buses. Racks are availableon a first come-first served basis. Riders areresponsible for loading and unloadingbicycles, and use the racks at their own risk. Please letthe driver know when you need to load or unload a bike.
Animals on YCAT: Service animals are welcome. Non-service animals may travel on the bus if secured in a cageor muzzle.
Lost and Found: If you leave an item on a YCAT vehicle,please call (928) 783-2235 to see if it has been retrieved.YCIPTA or its contractors are not responsible for lost orstolen items on board its vehicles.
Mobility Training: New to transit? Learn how to ride YCATand plan your trip. Upon completion of the training, youwill receive a free 10-Ride YCATPass. Call (928) 539-7076or e-mail [email protected] for more information.
YCATPassesYCATPasses utilize a smart cardtechnology which allows you to storemoney and passes on a reusable card. YCATPasses canstore e-cash up to $300. When you use e-cash to payyour fare or buy a Day YCATPass, you received a discount.The initial cost of the YCATPass is $2.00. Replacement ofa lost YCATPass is $5.00.

AccessibilityAll YCAT vehicles are fully equipped withmobility device lifts and a mobility devicesecurement area with space for two to fourmobility devices. The bus operator will provide assistancewith normal boarding or exiting, mobility devicesecurement and operation of the lift/ramp. YCAT busoperators are required to secure all mobility devicesbefore the bus can leave the bus stop.
Passengers using a scooter may be asked to transfer to aseat on the bus. All mobility aids must be able to fit withinthe allocated space, have working brakes and cannotexceed the capacity of the lift/ramp (with the passengerand mobility aid). If the mobility aid cannot fit the lift/rampplatform, the passenger will not be able to ride. Mobilitydevices with leaking batteries or fluids will not be allowedto board.
If a YCAT bus without a working wheelchair lift arrives atyour bus stop, YCAT will send a road supervisor or YCATOnCall bus within 30 minutes to take the passengerdirectly to their destination free of charge.
Personal Care AttendantsA PCA can accompany a person with a disability at noadditional charge. If you need a PCA, call (928) 783-2235one day in advance. The rate is $10.00 per hour.
Other YCAT ServicesYCAT VanpoolVanpooling is a great option for larger groups ofcommuters. YCAT Vanpool provides clearly marked vans toqualifying groups of 7-15 commuters, driven by one of thevanpool members. Passengers share the cost of operatingthe van by paying a monthly fee to the primary driver. Thefee covers gas, insurance, and vehicle maintenance costs.YCIPTA provides a $300 subsidy to vans on a first come,first served basis, through Enterprise Rideshare andvRide. HolidayCATEach December, YCAT offers a tour of holiday lightsaround Yuma for one hour. Buses depart from DowntownYuma Transit Center at 7:00 PM. Normal fares apply. CallYCAT for details or visit our website.
Savor Yuma ToursIn partnership with the Yuma Visitors Bureau, YCAToperates the Savor Yuma Culinary Tour during thewinter/spring time. Passengers will sample field-freshYuma fare prepared with border flair. Savor Yuma Tourswill take passengers on a culinary quest through a varietyof venues with a convivial group. Rules Of The RoadPlease observe the following rules when riding YCATbuses or waiting at a YCAT stop, transit center or office:
■ No smoking on buses, inside transit facilities or within20 feet of the opening of a window or door at transitfacilities per A.R.S. 36-601.01.
■ Eating and drinking is permitted provided that youdispose of the waste from eating or drinking.
■ Consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permittedon public transit vehicles under Federal law.
■ No standing in front of the white or yellow “standee”line, in doorways or stepwells while the bus is inmotion.
■ If you are sitting in one of the front seats, be preparedto give up your seat as a courtesy to seniors andpersons with disabilities.
■ No unnecessary conversation or interference with busoperator for safety reasons.
■ No fighting, using vulgar or offensive language,pushing, shouting, or any behavior that disturbs orendangers other passengers.
■ All audio devices require the use of headphones.Amplified music is not allowed on buses or at transitfacilities.
■ No flammable, hazardous materials or weapons shallbe allowed on board the bus (except oxygen).
■ No large object that cannot be held by the passengeror placed under seat. Passengers are allowed up tofive shopping bags, luggage or packages.
■ Passengers must have a destination when riding YCATbuses. After two round trips, passengers may berequested to leave the bus by the Bus Operator at thenearest transit center or major transfer point.
■ A person who commits an assault or battery upon atransit operator with a deadly weapon or presents theability to use a deadly weapon is subject to a class 6felony per A.R.S. 13-1204.
■ YCIPTA or its transit operations contractor reserve theright to refuse service to passengers and/or suspendpassengers who demonstrate disruptive and unsafebehavior or violate any of the rules and regulationspresented above.

El transportecompartido de YCAT ofrece furgonetas claramenteidentificadas para grupos de 7 a 15 pasajeros quecumplan los requisitos. El conductor es una de laspersonas que comparten el transporte. Los pasajeroscomparten el costo de viajar en la furgoneta y le paganun cargo mensual al conductor principal. El cargo cubrelos costos de gasolina, seguro y mantenimiento delvehículo.
