Write your child’s name inside their school bag and attach something to the bag for easy identifica- tion. ( A piece of coloured ribbon or a charm of some sort will do.) Cover textbooks to protect them. (Students can re-sell their books at the end of the year if they are in good condition ) Label all work books and equipment with the student’s full name and class. With text books, write the name inside the book as well. BOOKLISTS The final date for the submission of the Resource List online is Friday 11th December, 2020. STUDENT DETAILS, CHANGE OF TELEPHONE NUMBER OR ADDRESS It is imperative that we have accurate student records. If at some stage during the year details change (eg change of address or phone no.) please inform the college immediately. The safety of your child is paramount and you must be contactable at all times. This also applies to the emergency contacts. LUNCH AND SNACKS We have a well-stocked canteen at the college. However, students should bring their lunch, snacks and water from home if possible to avoid waiting in queues for lunch. Lunches should be substantial. A six- lesson day is a long day. PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORM If students have PE in the morning, they must still wear their regular uniform to school and change into their PE uniform just before PE class. LOCKERS Students will receive a combination padlock during Induction. They are not to share their code with any- body. They will be informed about this during Induction. Once a student is issued a locker, they are not permitted to change it. MOBILE PHONES Students who bring a mobile phone to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours. BYOD All Year 7 students are required to bring their own device (laptop) to school. More information is avail- able on the college website at http:braybrooksc.vic.edu.au/ under the sub-heading - Programs. Please direct all enquiries to Mr McMahon the Assistant Principal. DIARIES All students will receive a college diary. The diary is full of really important information regarding college rules and procedures. In addition there are sections that contain advice and strategies for learning. It is a really comprehensive and useful tool. Students will be expected to record the tasks they have yet to complete and to diarise what they have actually learnt on a particular day. This is part of their learning review. Teachers will also use the diary as a communication tool with parents. It is a college expectation that parents/carers check student diaries on a weekly basis. ATTENDANCE LATE ARRIVALS EARLY LEAVING ABSENCE Students are required to attend school every day unless they are ill or due to unforseen family circum- stances. If a student is absent, a phone call is required from the parent/ carer to the college as early in the day as possible. The college follows up all absences and a written note is required. The diary has a tear slip section in it. If your child arrives late with a legitimate reason, a note is required. If your child needs to leave early for an appointment, the student must report to the Year Level Coordina- tion Team in the morning, with a note from parents, to get an Early Leaver pass. The parent/carer needs to pick up the student from the General Office and sign them out. VALUABLES Students are not to bring valuable items to school, with the exception of necessary items such as lap- tops. Students are not to bring significant amounts of money unless they are making a payment to the General Office for an excursion, item or program. Students must go to the office outside of class times. SAFETY Students must use the overpass bridge, level and school crossings when entering and leaving the school. Students are never allowed to cross Ballarat Road unless crossings are used. We are very strict about this. Students will be suspended if they break road safety rules. This also applies to conducting themselves in a safe, responsible manner at the bus stops. Once a student is on the premises in the morning, they are not permitted to leave college grounds. DROPPING OFF STUDENTS This advice pertains to the Duke and Bourke Street entrances. Parents who drop their children off in the morning and/or pick them up after school, must park their car at a safe distance away from the school gates. This is in the interest of students who are entering college grounds on foot and staff who need to access internal parking. Blocking gates with vehicles is a danger and nuisance to all concerned. Please pre-arrange a pick-up point with your child rather than parking by the gate. YEAR 7 - 2021 GENERAL ADVICE

Year 7 students are required to bring their own suitable portable com-puting device (such as a netbook or laptop computer) to school daily.

The College has negotiated some excel-lent prices on a small selection of devic-es and students will be able to access some important software free of charge. The school’s preference is for parents to purchase devices from the following portal: https://www.orderportal.com.au/order-Form/orderform?orderformid=263&eid=622

However, students may be able to bring a device from home if the device meets some minimum specifications. Please be aware that some older and Android devices will not work on the school’s wireless network while tablets are not acceptable devices at Braybrook Col-lege. See the BYOD parent informa-tion booklet for more information on our website. (under programs)

It is important the computer devices brought by students are suitable for use at school.

We recognise that, just like uniforms, textbooks and extracurricular activi-ties, a computer device can be costly for families. The College has explored a number of ways of trying to make the devices affordable for families.

See the options outlined below.
