lives within the social sphere.
We are continuing that
tradition here in Boston. With
the aforementioned core
relationships, renew vigor,
strategic planning
and fraternal fellowship we
are positioned well to be the
premier chapter in the
Northeastern Province. I have
no doubt that as we travel to
Indianapolis in the next few
months that we will be well
represented and accounted
for as a significant force in
this clan of achievers.
It is under that Laurel Wreath
that we rightfully belong; men
of achievement, meeting the
needs of our families,
partners, and community.
Boston Alumni Chapter….
Preparing for the next 100
Years of Kappa Leadership.
Yours in the Bond,
Jermaine Myrie Polemarch
The 2010-2011 Fraternal Year
has been a year of
tremendous growth and
opportunity for the Boston
Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc. Going into
our centennial year, many
members started out the year
energized and optimistic about
the power and influence of
Kappa nationally as well as
locally. I‘ve seen members
come back home to Kappa! The
clarion call of our Grand
Polemarch has been heard by
many members here in
Boston. And for this, we have
been a better chapter. With
more voices and added
energy, we have accomplished
quite a bit this year.
The fundamental purpose of
our Noble Klan is achievement.
And I‘m happy to report that
we have achieved in
supporting each other, our
communities and young people
at large. To be a relevant
social organization, you must
have a social impact. We have
succeeded in forging
relationships and partnerships
with key organizations
throughout the greater Boston
community. Our work with the
Manny Wilson League at the
Yawkey Boys and Girls Club
has afforded us the
opportunity to touch the lives
of over 170 young boys and
girls through academic and
athletic support services. In
addition, recent development
work with the United Way,
Boys Scouts of America and
Concerned Black Men of
Massachusetts has placed us
on a path to develop a mature
and impactful Guide Right
program with Kappa League as
the cornerstone.
Our traditions are grounded in
developing youth and shaping

INSIDE GUIDE RIGHT The basic concepts of Guide
Right may be summarized as
follows:
1. To help youth, especially those of high school age, in the selection
of courses leading to vocations
compatible with their aptitudes, interests, and personalities.
2. To assist students, while they are in training, to get started in
employment, and to progress successfully in their chosen fields.
3. To assist parents in the
handling of their children by giving
them opportunities to talk over their problems with those who
know and are successful in their chosen vocations.
4. To afford the less fortunate youths a respite from the
drudgery of the streets, through
sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.
5. To inform youth of the values of
higher education, of assistance
available for continued
educational pursuits,
scholarships, loans, professional counseling, fellowships, etc.; of
various occupational and professional opportunities; and of
current lab or demands and the
trends on the labor market, supply rewards, etc.

tenth through the twelfth grades. The fraternity sought to help these
young men to achieve worthy goals for themselves and make constructive contributions to their community when
leadership roles become the responsibility. National Mission Statement: The mission of
the Kappa Instructional Leadership League Program is to empower at-risk youth in our
community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential.
National Vision Statement: Kappa Instructional Leadership League –
Prevention Intervention Program envisions a community in which every youth experiences nurturing one-to-one
relationships and community support, which in turn allows each of them to develop into their full potential capable of
making informed, responsible decisions as involved members of our community.
Under the chairmanship of Mel Davis, the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter‘s
Social Action Program took the form of training activity for young men of the Alain Leroy Locke High School. Called the Kappa
Instructional Leadership League, it was designed to help young men grow, receive, and develop their leadership talents in every
phase of human endeavor. It provided both challenging and rewarding experiences, which richly
enhanced their lives. Membership was open to male students from the

Established in Boston, Massachusetts in
2011 by Brother Danny Rojas from Chi
Chapter and Brother Kevin Sibley from
Boston Alumni Chapter; The focus of the
Boston Kappa League is to support the
fraternity‘s National initiative while
creating a local service initiative that will
be coordinated by both the Boston
Alumni chapter, Greater Boston Kappa
Charities and Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Currently in its infancy stages the Boston
Kappa League is in the process of
developing the curriculum for the Boston
based program, which has established
partnerships with the Greater Boston
Kappa Charities, the Concerned Black
Men of Massachusetts, and the YMCA of
Greater Boston.
With the Leadership of Brother Rojas and
Brother Sibley we are looking to have an
established program by the Fall of 2011 at
which time applications will be made
available to young men in the Greater
Boston Public School District.
The Founding members of the Boston
Kappa League will be made up of a small
cohort of young men ranging from
different high schools in the Boston area
who have demonstrated exceptional
leadership potential and passion for
uplifting their peers. These young men
will assist in the establishment,
curriculum planning, and Recruitment of
Boston‘s First Kappa League Program.

League held the Induction Ceremony of

and Family Orientation on the campus of

the Boston Alumni Chapter led several
self-improvement workshops for fifteen
(15) high-school age young men. These
workshops, focused on presentation
skills, etiquette and hygiene, served as a
capstone initiative in preparing the
participants for a Cotillion program to be
held in June 2011.

100 Years of Achievement
―100 years ago, ten young men had body and soul. Tell me Brothers, ‗cause I don‘t know, why the Frat they founded was so darn cold.‖
As the song correctly states our Noble Klan
was founded 100 years ago on January 5th in
1911. To commemorate the occasion the
Fraternity established National Founder‘s Day
for Brothers across the country to come together and celebrate our founding. This
year‘s gathering was on the weekend of
January 7-9 in Philadelphia, hosted by
Philadelphia Alumni.
Approximately 2000 Brothers from around
the country descended on Philadelphia for a
weekend long celebration. Boston Alumni was
represented by Brothers Myrie, Daughtry, and
Taylor. There were many events and parties with the highlights being the tour of
International Headquarters and the Closed
Banquet. The closed banquet master of
ceremonies was Brother Demarco Morgan of
NBC and the oldest Kappa in the room had
attended both the Silver and Gold Conclaves. Also at the closed Banquet the trailer for the
movie about the founding of Kappa Alpha Psi
was viewed.
The energy and spirit of Brotherhood was
strong and palpable at National Founder‘s Day
and Brothers gained a renewed appreciation
of the strong bond of Fraternity.
