YOUNG YOUNG YOW E LCO M E
to
YoungThe town of Young is situated in the south west region of southern New South Wales, less than two hours drive from Canberra. Buildings are reminiscent of the early gold mining heritage, and even today you can pan for gold at Blackguard Gully with equipment hired from the Lambing Flat Museum.
The Chinese Tribute Garden is a site of historical significance where you can relax and soak up the history of Young. See the waterfall fashioned from natural stone by a local stonemason, enjoy the preponderance of birdlife, inspect the gifts from the
Chinese community in Sydney and overseas, and appreciate the dense plantings of trees and shrubs along the walk ways. You can enter the garden through the gateway - a donation from Taronga Park Zoo. The garden looks spectacular all year round and picnic facilities, barbecues and toilets are all available on site.Burrangong Creek and the wonderful parklands which surround it are at the heart of the town of Young. This was the original area where gold was discovered so one can wander along the historic walk, absorbing the heritage points along the way.
For more information on Young, please visit www.visityoung.com.au. Alternatively, drop into the Young Visitor Information Centre located in the historic former Young Railway Station.
