O U R M I S S I O N

Nativity Preparatory School is an accredited, tuition-free, Jesuit middle school serving boys of all faiths from

low-income families residing in Boston. Staffed by experienced teachers and dedicated volunteers who work

closely with families, the school prepares students for success in high school and college. Nativity’s academically

challenging and highly structured environment helps students grow in a love for learning and an abiding sense of

responsibility to their community. In the Jesuit tradition, the school promotes the intellectual, spiritual, social and

physical growth that inspires boys from Boston to become men for others.

Dear Friends,

As we near the 30th year of Nativity Preparatory School’s history of providing a tuition-free, high-quality Jesuit education to boys from low-income Boston families, it is only possible to feel a great sense of awe and gratitude for how far this school has come with your support.

Nativity has matured into so much more than just a “middle school”. At Nativity Prep, we are building a “classroom-to-career” pipeline. Giving me a firm handshake at the door each morning, these 8-to-14 year olds certainly know about the challenging academics, engaging extracurriculars and call to be “men for others” that they will experience in the year ahead. What they may not yet know is that the Nativity community will be there for them long after they graduate, empowering, supporting and encouraging them through high school, college and career. In Catholic and Ignatian terms, we call this incredible journey together “accompaniment”.

From the area’s top independent and Catholic high schools, to colleges and universities across the country, to a range of industries and career fields, our alumni are following their dreams, thriving in their pursuits and serving their communities thanks to the foundational education you have made possible.

Yet from our early years in Roxbury, our mission has remained the same: break the cycle of poverty through an education of the mind, the heart and the soul, and form boys from Boston into true “men for others”.
