World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and, most importantly, it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

Roman Day
We enjoyed our Roman
Day.
We have created art
pieces, including mosaics,
we have completed our Roman helmets and
made some shields. In the afternoon we ate lots
of different things during our mini Roman
feast. We marched as soldiers and formed a
tortoise to finish the day; Year 3/4.

Well done to all our WASPS Cross Country runners. On a bitterly cold March day they did themselves proud, running alongside another 13 schools. Special mentions to Mackenzie (4th in category), Owain (9th), Max (15th), Hannah (16th), Tess (17th) and Arnie (18th).
Similarly our school was represented well at the Flash Tennis Gala – well done to all who took part. Arnie won every game; Hannah and
Macey won their doubles play off!

Come and celebrate Roald Dahl's centenary!
On Wednesday 1 June, Paint the Rainbow are running a very special art workshop.
Inspired by Roald Dahl’s stories and his collaboration with the illustrator Quentin Blake we will paint
enormous crocodiles, sculpt feathery pheasants, design long-legged grannies, make some marvellous
medicine & lots more!
The workshop will take place between 9.30am and 12.30pm at the Montgomery Activity Centre (next to
Montgomery School). Ages 5–11 are welcome and it is £7.50 per child (please note under 7s must be
accompanied by an adult). Juice and a snack will be provided and it will get messy, so please wear old
clothes!

Paint the Rainbow art workshops are run by Catherine Williams and Holly Dyer. Catherine is a qualified
teacher with 25 years’ experience and Holly is a professional graphic designer. Both have an enhanced

Midday Supervisor Required
We are currently looking for a midday supervisor, to work daily from 12-1pm, during term
times. If anyone has an interest in this post please contact the school.
School Attendance:
One of our key priorities is excellent school attendance.
Currently we are on target, with 96.29% for the
school year so far. We would ask all parents to help us keep this improvement going by always encouraging pupils to attend each day, and by avoiding taking holidays within term time. Thank you.
School Drop Offs/Collections:
Can parents please refrain from using the side road (aside from the layby) when dropping and collecting pupils from school. This is a Health & Safety concern not only for children on the road, but also as regards potential vehicle accidents so close to the main junction.
