"Great men are born to lead" and so the birth of Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil in an affluent agriculturist family of Kolhapur in

ndMaharashtra on 22 October 1935, was the beginning of great things to come. Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil did not rest on

his laurels as a social worker, but dreamt of contributing better values to the society. Thus began a vision to endow the

people with quality educational facilities in all fields. Dr. D Y Patil Partishthan's journey began with "HIS EXCELLENCY

THE HON'BLE PADMASHREE DR. D Y PATIL Sir." the Governor of Bihar State, who sowed the seeds of education in

Kolhapur, Maharashtra in 1983 with a motto : " Empowerment through Knowldge". After three decades, today we witness

that the seed has bloomed into a vast tree with its branches spread in Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai and Mauritius. This

expansion could happen only due to his philanthropic spirit. Today, there are over 160 academic institutions of

international repute, from kindergarten to post graduation in the varied disciplines of education, 03 Deemed Universities

and 01 Overseas Medical College. There are one lakh students studying and ten thousand teaching and non teaching

staff members working under the banner of Dr. D Y Patil Pratishthan. Almost two lakh students have graduated from this

prestigious banner.

For his contribution to the cause of education, the President of India has honoured Dr. D Y Patil Sir with the Padmashree

in 1991. He was also awarded two Doctorates in Philosophy, first by the World University Round Table (USA) in 1985 and

later by Britain (UK) in 1996.

He served as the Governor of Tripura for two years & Governor of Bihar for two years.

Recently, he has been bestowed with the prestigious D.Lit. from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

Dr. Sanjay D. Patil is an Educationist, Agriculturist and a Civil Engineer. He is the architect of Dr. D Y Patil Educational

Institutions of the Kolhapur Educational Complex. He is the Chancellor of Dr. D Y Patil University and also the Chairman

of Kasaba Bavada Shikshan Mandal, Kolhapur. He has been awarded the most prestigious D.Lit on 23rd May 2013 by

the University of the Himachal Pradesh.

He has to his credit various awards. The Government of Maharashtra has awarded him with "Vanashree Puraskar" in

1991. He is the recipient of Indira Priyadarshini Vrukshamitra Award in 1993. He has been awarded the Kolhapur

Bhushan in 2001 for his achievements in the educational field. He was best owed with the Rashtriya Shikshan

Sanman Puraskar Krishinishtha Puraskar by the Government of Maharashtra in 2004 and has won the First Prize in

"All India Mango Show" held at Banglore in 1996.

Dr. Sanjay D. Patil believes in nurturing the potential of the students, giving them the exposure to the latest

developments in their fields, thus enabling them to become competent and quality conscious engineers. The world

class infrastructure and environment in the institutes reflects the meticulous care taken by him in maintaining high

academic standards with the help of a galaxy of renowned academicians and ultra modern laboratories. His humane

and calm approach towards addressing various problems and his quick decision making ability is responsible for the

rapid progress and growth of the educational institutes.

He has established 'Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil Medical College' at Quatre Bornes, in the Republic of Mauritius with the

aim of providing quality health education, research and health care facilities of international standards.

Shri. Satej alias Bunty D. Patil is a renowned educationist, social worker and an agriculturist. Recently, he has become a

Member of Legislative Council of Maharashtra state. He was the Minister of State for Home, Rural Development, Food

& Drugs Admin; Govt. of Maharashtra, since November 2010 to September 2014. member of Maharashtra Legislative

Assembly from Karveer constituency, Kolhapur since 2004. A young man with tremendous energy, he has translated

the vision of Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil into reality by establishing various quality institutions within a short span of time.

He is also President of Shri. Mouni Vidyapeeth Gargoti, Kolhapur and Chairman of Padmashree Dr. D Y Patil Sahakari

Sakhar Karkhana Ltd. Gaganbavda Kolhapur. He is also member of Indian Institute of Education Pune, and Govering

counical member, Vasantdada Sugar Institute Pune. He is also member of Shree Parampujya Sant Gajanan Maharaj

Sansthan, Shegaon.

He takes personal interest in all the facets of efficient functioning and growth of the Institutes. His zeal and untiring

efforts are a key to the creation of conducive environment for teaching, learning and overall personality development of

students and also an attempt to elevate the educational institutions to international standards.

Col. S. K. Joshi (Retd.)Campus Director

Col. S. K. Joshi (Retd.) was commissioned into The Scinde Horse (14 HORSE), an elite Regiment

(Armoured Corps) of Indian Army in 1974 and retired in March 2006. He joined Dr. D Y Patil Group at

Kolhapur in April 2006 and later was shifted to Dr. D Y Patil Pratishthan's Educational Complex, Akurdi, Pune

as its Director in April 2008. A man with dynamic personality, he is a strict disciplinarian and great

administrator. Under the able guidance and support of Hon. Satej D Patil, Vice President and Chairman he

has been instrumental in bringing about revolutionary changes to the Akurdi campus in all the spheres. He

believes in the dictum of “Perform or Perish”.

Sumedha Sahasrabudhe (MFA)OFFICIATING PRINCIPAL

Mrs. Sumedha Sahasrabudhe (M.F.A.) is an alumnus of North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon. She has a total work experience of 21 years out of which she has spent 11 years in Industry and 10 years into Academics. Her contribution is in the field of Communication Design - Education, Advertising, etc. Her National & International Papers on Communication Design, Advertising & marketing Methods, Folk culture in communication design etc. have published in 'ISSN' Publications.

She has Design industry exposure in H.R. Management with special focus on Recruitments, Design Performance Management, Policies and Procedures. She has worked with several sectors of Design Industries and having excellent contacts. She is highly adaptable and sociable with strong interpersonal Skills.

Mrs. Sumedha Sahasrabudhe guides students in the field of Communication Design / Industrial Relations with focus on factual industrial training and Skill Development.

Educational Study Tour :Study tours to places of cultural importance are arranged for the students every year under the initiation and guidance of the Principal.

Annual Exhibition and Social :The Annual exhibition is organized, which is the most colourful and lively event of the year. A Panel of eminent personalities from the advertising field are invited for judging the students' work prepared during the academic year. Distinguished personalities also are invited during such events to inaugurate the exhibition, distribute the prizes and also motivate the students.

Competitions : The College arranges various competitions in the academic year, such as 'Rangoli', 'Face Painting', 'Poster Design', etc. These competitions are very significant as a co-curriculler activity for students.

Seminar & Workshops : The College arranges several seminars and workshops throughout the year with practical demonstrations by eminent artists and interactive sessions with such leading professionals in the industry. Sketching Club : It is a fundamental activity for all students. Their presence in the outdoor environment, creates various spot sketches with pencils, water colours, pastels, etc; mediums on paper, which is one of the imperative part for development of drawing & illustration.

Visits & Demonstrations : Institute - industry interaction are fulfilled through the visits. The visits at museums, historical places, advertising sectors, publishing, web promotions, animation and software industries are arranged every year. The eminent artists & advertising tycoons are invited for the demos, which inspires the students in relevant areas and industries. Teachers - Parents interaction :The College arranges Teachers - Parents meet at least once in the year with the agenda, where by student's day to day progress, academic plans in future, career opportunities, etc; under the guidance of the principal are discussed.

The vision of the Placement Department is to empower the 'Design Institute - Industry

Interactions'and generate maximum placements in Industries. To do so, the College has established a

Training and Placement Cell since 2007 and it is a regular activity of the College to provide to the needs of

Design Industries by supplying trained and professional Designers. In order to facilitate this activity, a

Training and Placement officer is appointed for the smooth functioning of the cell. TPO makes constant

efforts to establish links with Industries and build a rapport with relevant training institutes. The Training and

Placement service operates round the year to facilitate the students professional future. The Placement

team is available to respond to students’ questions and concerns of all kinds. The students are also

equipped with Professional skills, Soft skills, language and Communication skills, Interview techniques in

the language laboratories. In addition, the College adopts all possible measures to train the students to

become employable and job ready.

The T & P Department is active in arranging the industrial training and informative lectures by

eminent professionals which help in enhancing the knowledge of students to plan and design their career,

specifically Skills and Industrial Protocols, Interview Technique, Tests and Discussions and Portfolio

Presentations, are the most priority tasks.

The placement performance has seen a steady and significant rise in both, the in monetary benefits

and the quality of the organizations that take part in the campus recruitment process. In year 2013 -14,

around 15 companies have communicated and visited us for Campus Placements and all our registered

students have been selected for the post of Production Associate under Training and Placement activities.

Good efforts of T & P team, timely follow-up, valuable guidance of college authorities and great support of

management played a significant role to achieve success.

TRAINING & PLACEMENT CELL

Programme: Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) - Applied Art.

Duration : Four years. (Approved by A.I.C.T.E. New Delhi & Affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University )

Eligibility: Candidate seeking admission to the first year of the four years degree course in Applied arts should be of Indian

Nationality & should have passed the HSC ( std XII / 10 + 2 level) examination (any stream) or equivalent

examination from a recognised institution with English as one of the subject & secured minimum 50% marks in

aggregate (45% marks in aggregate for backward class category candidates belonging to Maharashtra state only).

Final result HSC fulfilling 50% criteria & 45% required for reserved category achieved not necessarily in first attempt

& appeared & obtained non Zero score at MH-AAC-CET.

Admission: The Candidate fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be admitted to the College through the Centralised A Allotment

Process (CAP) conducted by the competent authority appointed by the Government of Maharashtra.

Candidate seeking admission to BFA Applied Art must have mandatorily appeared for the entrance examination MH-

AAC-CET conducted by Directorate of Art (D.O.A.) Maharashtra State.

Fee: As prescribed by ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti’ (S.S.S.)
