The WRTH Editorial team is pleased to announce that the WORLD RADIO TV HANDBOOK Julyupdate to the A17 schedules of 1 July 2017 is now available for free download from the WRTH website:<http://www.wrth.com/_shop/wp-content/uploads/WRTH2017IntRadioSuppl3_A17SchedulesUpdate.pdf>.The file with 2 pages is in PDF format and will require the free Adobe Acrobat reader. We hope you findthis a useful accompaniment to your printed WRTH edition.

(Sean Gilbert - World Radio TV Handbook)

And with this best wishes and good DX until next month from

AFGHANISTAN - Weak/fair signal of Radio Afghanistan External Service, July 7: 1532-1647 on 6100 YAK 100kW / 125 deg to SAs English/Urdu/Arabic & off air. (DX MIX 1017)

ALASKA - 11870, June 8 at 1254 UT, KNLS is S9, surprisingly good, close to directly off the back, signing off Englishhour with full new sked by Rob: 11870 kHz at 08 & 12 UT; 7355 kHz also at 12 UT (JBA carrier here), 9690 kHz at 10UT, 11765 kHz at 14 UT.

Also if in SAsia, listen at 02 UT on 9600 kHz, 03 UT on 15515 kHz (which are Madagascar he fails to mention). I firstchecked 11885 kHz where Dave Valko caught KNLS on June 5 until 1259 UT, // 11870 kHz, but no 11885 kHz heretoday). At 1259 UT, 11870 kHz to open carrier and off, but back on with open carrier at *1300-1303* UT (or somethingelse?)

11870, June 9 at 1221 UT, checking KNLS English again earlier in the hour, which was in well yesterday by closing.Today it's VP S2-S4 with echo, long/short path? pop music, 1226 UT announcements I can't be positive are in English, much weaker than Vatican via Philippines open carrier already on 11875 kHz at S9. KNLS improves slightly to S5-S7by closing circa 1255 UT with English schedule, but still unusable. (gh, hcdx and dxld June 9)

NEWS ABOUT BROADCASTING (+other) STATIONSEditor: WALTER EIBL U eMail: [email protected]

4ANGUILLA - 11775, on July 12 at 1345 UT, PMS is back on with OK modulation. However, Harold Frodge saysit cut off at 1422:10* UT today in mid-preach. I recheck at 1916 UT, it's still off.

Meanwhile, as I read later in the dxld yg, Chuck, W3ON was hearing Caribbean Beacon on 11865 instead of 11775kHz at 1856-1910 UT, OK modulation. This was previously reported by Dave Valko a few weeks ago as a spur of 11775kHz. Then I check at 2043 UT to find nothing on 11865 kHz, but 11775 kHz is back on with dead air. At 2101 UT it'soff again. (gh, hcdx and dxld July 13)

BANGLADESH - 4750 Bangladesh Betar - HS, at 1235-1243 UT on June 26. The Monday only SAARC (The SouthAsian Association for Regional Cooperation) news bulletin in English, starting with "Assalamu alaikum. This isBangladesh Betar"; clearly in English, but not very readable due to usual CODAR and CNR1 QRM.(Ron Howard-CA-USA, DXplorer via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews June 28)

BRAZIL - 4885 Radio Clube do Para, Belem, at 2113-2133 UT on June 27, on air again, Portuguese, sport comments, comment about Brazilian soccer player Jonnathan, Paysandu team, ID at 2130 UT: "Radio Clube do Para". 25322.Also heard 0523-0540 UT on June 28, Brazilan songs. Very weak. 15321.

9725.4 Radio Evangelizar, Curitiba, at 1950-2045 UT on June 27, Portuguese, religious comments, "A oracao de NossoSenhor...", ID "Emissoras da Rede Evengelizar de Comunicacao ..." // 11934.9 kHz. 14321.(Manuel Mendez-ESP, dxld June 27)

9724.869, 0411-, Rádio Evangelizar (ex Rádio RB2), Jun 18. Good reception here with minor static spashes. All heardvery well using my SW directed DKAZ antenna (better than a NW/SW ALA 100 and NW directed BOG). Lovely EZLBrazilian vocals. Not // to Rádio Aparecida. Possibly an ID at 0414:45. Much stronger on // 11934.954 with armchaircopy (listed with same power of 10 kW and 20 deg azimuth). Also heard on 6040.350 (10 kw/20 deg as well). This isfun! Opportune that Glenn Hauser mentioned this in his June 17 - 18 logs that Rádio RB2 is no more, and that these

6frequencies are now occupied by this station's name. (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, BC, dxldyg via DXLD)

9725.454, July 3 at 0602, VP signal here from R. Evangelizer, moved up after a long time circa 9724.9.

9665.870, July 3 at 0604, R. Voz Missionária, is currently way off-frequency here, a little better signal than Evangelizar, some music audible. (gh, WOR 1885, DXLD)

Today around 2200-2300 UT, I can received a digital signal as DRM but more narrow, it would be Rádio Nacional daAmazônia in DRM tests (as EiBi says).(Magdiel Cruz R., Mexico, July 2, WRTH FB via WOR 1885, DXLD)Pix of receiver tuned to 9751.70 (gh)

9819.060, 0406-, Radio 9 de Julho, Jun 18. Good reception except for some pretty serious static crashes. RelayingRádio Aparecida. (11855.6, etc.) (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, BC, dxldyg via DXLD)

11764.573, 0452-, Super Rádio Deus é Amor, Jun 18. Fair to good reception with ID at 0454 by a male speaker inPortuguese, then on with a woman. Not sure her topic. Note most Brazilians are off-channel, making them easier toidentify. No parallels noted. (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, BC, dxldyg via DXLD)

11815.025, 0443-, Rádio Brasil Central, Jun 18. Fair to good reception of EZL Brazilian vocals. Not sure whetherconditions are deteriorating as we're getting closer to LSS here in the far north. It's 9:45 PM and still bright out! Thesun won't [set] for at least another half hour. I can actually hear their // frequency of 4985 which is covered smack ontop with RTTY, but if I use side band and notch out the one end of the RTTY, I can hear the same music. How's thatfor technical DXing! (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, BC, dxldyg via DXLD)

11855.610, 0334-, Radio Aparecida Jun 18 Excellent reception with a song, 'Moya Aparecida'. Not sure what that meansin Portuguese, but interesting that if it was in Ukrainian, it would mean 'My Aparecida'.[Probably really 'Mãe Aparecida' which means Mother Apparition; or Who Appeared --- gh]

Many mentions of Aparecida as well during speech portions. There must be quite the pipeline into Brazil from Masset,as that country is often very well heard. Parallel to weaker (but still well heard) 9630.021 with listed 10 kW. Vaticannews at 0345:45. I think that I can also hear the 49 meter // on 6135. Seems on channel, despite lists that suggest offchannel. Turning both Perseus receivers on, I'm 99% certain that it is the same station, and on-frequency on 49 meters.49 meters is listed with 25 kW and an azimuth of 30 degrees. (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, BC, dxldyg via DXLD)

ERITREA / ETHIOPIA - I noticed as well that 7160 kHz from around 0310 UT is carrying a programme as well.It is hard to get the language or an ID but my guess it is Asmara ERI as well ... will keep an ear on that frequency andkeep you posted. (Tarek Zeidan-EGY SU1TZ, dxld June 24)

Last night (June 23, 1630+ UT), Asmara ERI was definitely on 7160 kHz, but not on 7180 kHz, weaker thanusual/expectable and jammed. In the past, the two transmitters often had significantly different signal strength in Euro.Basically 7175v kHz being the stronger one and 7146etc kHz, the weaker one.

VoBME heard on 7180 kHz again today June 25, not on 7160 kHz as a few days ago. Fairly strong signal and jammedin the usual manner with "white noise" until 1700 UT. On a Web-SDR in the Middle East I could make out a scheduleof roughly 0330-0700 UT, 0930-1100 UT, and from somewhat before 1400 until 1830 UT.(Thorsten Hallmann-D, dxld June 23 / 25)

KOREA, REP. OF - 4885, Echo of Hope VOH. Regarding my recent reporting of the "Radio Free Korea" ID here:thanks to Amano-san for explaining what I actually heard. The program's name that is looped every hour is called "RadioBroadcasting Guide." As such it provides a lot of info about Korean stations, with segments with many different singingjingle IDs, as well as clips of different stations spoken IDs, which is what I heard with "Radio Free Korea." Recentlyat 1123 & 1223 UT, am hearing "V O A World News" IDs in English, whereas most of the program is in Korean. Thanksagain to Amano-san for his helpful assistance.(Ron Howard-CA-USA, DXplorer via wwdxc BC-DX TopNews July 3)

4885 has gone rogue and is looping each hour with IDs about every 10 minutes. Just a correction on the Radio FreeKorea mention: RFK is a different station, AM 1143. However, of course, they're basically all run by the same peopleat the NIS [National Intelligence Service, the chief intelligence agency of South Korea - Ron] from the same tower sites(which I've also posted photos of some times in the past). This would be the equivalent of "stunting" I think. They'remessing around with their frequencies and programming and North Korea is doing the same right now too. So whoknows what they're up to with an RFK ID in there...!!" (via Ron Howard, June 30, dxldyg via WOR 1885, DXLD)

KUWAIT - 15540 Radio Kuwait - Sulaibiyah, at 1848-2100* UT on June 30, male rap tune followed by the daily featureprogram "This Day inHistory" in English. 15540, 1815-, Radio Kuwait, Jul 1. With either 250 or 500 kW depending on the source, signal is still just above thresholdat poor to fair level. Even with background noise of - 130 dB, I'm getting an S2 to S3 signal only. Playing Westernsounding music. This was once of my favourite stations to listen to while growing up in Toronto. Armchair copy there, and very exotic! Rechecking at 1910 UT, very good level! Clearly, this was the result of a slowly climbing MUF. That'smore like it. Unfortunately, the music is generic western style music. Not what I want to hear! At 1911, they switchedto a reading of the Holy Qur'an. Years ago, I used to enjoy this segment, with its simultaneous [consecutive?] Englishtranslation. A very short segment, ending with, 'Allah has revealed the truth'. Then into Human Relations in Islam, withArabic music in background. (Walt Salmaniw, Masset, BC, dxldyg via DXLD)
