1.0 General
Upon receiving the survey drawing, a ground study was carried
out again to evaluate the subsurface condition of the area.
From the survey data much information are gathered including
the direction of flow of the drain in the area that surround
the flash flood area.
2.0 Findings (please refer to Figure 1 and Templates A,B,C and D)
The flash flood area has an existing main drain running from
Taman OUG, running through the said site (being unexposed
box-culvert) at Jalan Sepadu and into an open L-shaped drain
at Jalan Sepadu 7. In the said site, one side of the drain is
aligned with small type of box culvert which has been laid
new. The other side seems to be a normal HRGW drain which
needs to be replaced.

3.0 Proposal (please referto Figure 2 and template E,F,Gand H)
The flash flood area at Jalan Sepadu has an existing main
drain running through Jalan Sepadu and an existing outlet
from the said area (an open L-shaped drain) at Jalan
Sepadu7.With urbanization changes the landscape of the area,
thus creating the transformation of storm water entering the
drainage system more faster and increase the quantity of
water in the drainage system during heavy storm .Therefore
causing overloading of drains and causing the flash flood to
occur. As for Taman United the existing drain is not
sufficient to hold the overloading run-off. Therefore to
minimize the effects, below describe the suggestion for the
drainage improvement works:
i) To improve on one side of the existing drainage,
upgrading to a suitable box-culvert system at Jalan
Sepadu
TEMPLATE E: TO UPGRADE THE DRAINAGE ON THE LEFT
SIDE OF JALAN SEPADU
ii) To propose suitable type of works to be carried out to
clear all type of siltation, debris’s and other types of
blockages along roadside drain alignment.
iii) To propose a detention system to hold back or detain the
increase discharge or peak discharge during storms. The
storm water are being stored at site and then slowly
discharging it. The proposed area for the On-Site
Detention Pond is at the T-junction of Jalan Gembira in
the existing Nursery area under the existing
Transmission line.
