of the Peace is c~111ed to the fact th~1t it has COllle to the knowledge of the Government tha,t divers ingenious artifices are resorted to by UllScrUj)ulous persons, in order to obtain the rew,trd fixed by the law for mttive dogs' tails, such as the purchasing from natives of the tails of their dogs which ~1l'e not destroyed, thus defeating the object of the Act; the artificial manufacture of wbtt clo15ely resemble native dogs' tails with bits of the skin of the dog, which, when green, are closely wound round a piece of sinew or a rat's tail, and the hairs neatly pointed at one end; the sending of htils from one district to another to secure the higher reward, and other devices of a like nature; every care should, there­fore, be exereised in order to prevent fmud, in determining whether the tail produced is genuine, and tlmt the dog from which it Ims been taken has been destroyed before the reward is paid.

And notice is hereby given that at the expira­tion of such time the sftid Esther Garraty wi.ll proceed to distribute the assets of the said deceased among the persons entitled thereto, having regard only to the claims and demands of which the said Esther Garraty shall then have had notice, and that she will not be liable for the assets of the said deceased or any part thereof so distributed to any person or persons of whose cbi m or demand she shall not then have had notice.
