Journey with JesusPraying through the Gospel of Mark

Station 32 - what do you want me to do for you

• Find a place to sit quietly.

• Sit in a relaxed position.

• Close your eyes.

• Breathe normally being aware that God holds you in every breath you take.

• Be aware of God’s loving eyes watching over you.

• As you do, turn your eyes towards Jesus.

• Ask for the grace of his peace and stillness within.

• You might like to listen to Lauren Daigle sing Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.

Grant me, O Lord, the single eye, that I may see the one thing needful, the thing that you want done. Don’t let my vision be blurred by looking at too many things or trying to please anyone but you. Give me simplicity of heart, quiet confidence in you, and eagerness to know and do your will, like your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, my beloved Brother and Lord.

Read this passage from Mark chapter 10. What words or phrases strike you?

When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”  “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Read these words from Mark chapter 10 again slowly.Stay with one of the words or phrases that catches you and hold it in the stillness before God.

Imagine yourself jumping up and coming to your feet before Jesus.

Jesus says to you ‘ What do you want me to do for you?’

How do you respond?

What do you want me to do for you?

The whole round world is not enough to fill The heart's three corners, but it craveth still; None but the Trinity, who made it, can Suffice the vast triangulated heart of man.

From The School of the Heart Christopher Harvey

How has the Spirit been at work in your heart as you have prayed?

What has God said to you and how have you responded?

Maybe you would like to note down what God has revealed to you in this time.

Creative prayerCollage praise

Choose one of the pieces of music from today’s prayer station and turn it into a praise collage.

All you need is paper, old magazines, pens and glue. Listen to the music and as you do express your praise through the creation of the collage. This is a wonderful way of exploring the creativity God has given you - freeing and playful and fun.
