Upgrade using Database Upgrade Assistant in Oracle 12c cloud control.
Login to the web page for cloud control and choose target database from list of targets.
Click on Oracle Database, then on Provisioning and finally on Upgrade Database.
Search for New Oracle Home by clicking on search icon.
Click on Select.
Choose Named Credential button.
Next
Expand the RDBMS Pre-Upgrade Tool Checks ( yellow warning sign)
This can be ignored – since we are not using db control.
Continue
Click on search button and choose /u01/oracle for Diagnostic Destination
Click on Upgrade Timezone Version
Let Restore Settings only remain as in most upgrades we will take a backup separately.
A BACKUP OF THE DATABASE IS A MUST BEFORE AN UPGRADE.
Next
Add new Listener - for some reason the upgrade process does not pick up the running listener with the green arrow and fails to continue.
Hence I’ve added a dummy listener – that can be changed later on.
Next
Next
Notice the dummy new listener.
SUBMIT JOB.
Click on OK
On the server – to check the logs ….
cd /u01/oracle/cfgtoollogs/dbua/tcloud/upgrade1
tail -f Oracle_Server.log
Upgrade Successful.
