THE TIME IS NOW, ACT NOW AND STOP WITH THE CYCLE OF FAILURESFrank J Alec, Deputy Chief, Lake Babine Nation
COMPREHENSIVE LOOK AT LBNTREATY DEVELOPMENT
Historical Intent was To settle the LAND issue with
Canada, BC, and local Govts
Ancestors started by selecting LANDS that were to be RESERVE lands under the Indian Act
Ancestors also chose the BC trapline registration to secure the LAND mass as LBN territories
Where did it go wrong? Canada and BC govts started
taking control of the processes
Industry started to pull the strings with Govts
Now the treaty process is a program in the eyes of Govts and Industry
Infighting was and still our disadvantage
Frank J Alec, Deputy Chief, Lake Babine Nation
WHAT CAN HAPPEN TO MAKE IT WORK?
Revitalize LBN nationhood: language, culture, and traditional principles
Reconciliation amongst the peoples of LBN
Stop the cycle of bad politics
Take part and participate in all meetings
Everyone to think about the children
Be happy
