Spirit Seeker's Seminar by Fr. Kevin Joyce
As we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us pray and work for our own spiritual renewal and that of the world. The final document of the Second Vatican Council focused on such a renewal: The “Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World” (Gaudium et spes). I in-vite you to a presentation that I will give on this great docu-ment.

DO NOT BE AFRAID
Did you notice? Today is called the “Second Sunday of Easter,” not the “First Sunday after Easter.” Our celebration of Easter is not over. These Sundays of Easter continue to present the mystery of Jesus Christ’s victory.
The readings begin with the “signs and wonders” abounding in those earliest days. Sick people lay in the street, hoping that at least Peter’s “shadow might fall on one or another of them.” Then, in a powerful passage from the book of Revelation, the vision-ary falls down “as though dead” upon seeing the victorious Christ. But Christ extends a gentle touch: “Do not be afraid . . . once I was dead, but now I am alive forever.”
In the Gospel, that same Christ appears and breathes on the disciples, and gently leads Thomas to believe. This Christ—more powerful than any evil force, victorious over death itself—touches us and whispers, “Do not be afraid.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

La noche Anual del WSL de vino, queso y juego será el jueves, 27 de abril en el anexo.
Una variedad de tipos de vinos y quesos se aparean para dar esta noche una experiencia única. Traiga un juego que le guste jugar. Los boletos cuestan $10, pero es ¡GRATIS! Traiga usted y sus amigos para la noche de diversión y de fraternidad!
NO TEMAN
¿Se fijaron? Hoy es el “Segundo Domingo de Pascua”, no el “Primer Domingo des-pués de Pascua”. Nuestra celebración pascual no ha terminado. Estos domingos de Pascua continúan presentando el misterio de la victoria de Jesucristo.
Las lecturas comienzan con las “señales milagrosas y prodigios” que abundaban en esos primeros tiempos. Enfermos apostados en las calles para que, cuando Pedro pasara, “al menos su sombra cubriera a alguno de ellos”. Luego, en el Apocalipsis, el visionario cae a sus pies “como muerto” al ver al Cristo victorioso. Pero Cristo lo toca con la mano derecha y le dice: “No temas. . . estuve muerto y de nuevo soy el que vive por los siglos de los siglos.”
En el Evangelio, ese mismo Cristo aparece y sopla sobre los discípulos y gentilmente convence a Tomás a que crea. Este Cristo – más poderoso que cualquier fuerza del mal, victorioso sobre la misma muerte – nos toca y nos dice en voz baja: “No temas”. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

The Guadalupe Hope Society A Catholic Society Dedicated to Bringing a Pro-Life Crisis Pregnancy Center to the Alameda!
Order Tickets NOW! Keynote Speakers: Patsy Gonzalez and Willie Lapus. Patsy has written a handbook on sidewalk counseling in the hope that, through her experience counseling abortion bound women, she may be helpful in forming a more effective sidewalk counselor. In 2006, Willie took on the position of executive director of the San Juan Diego Society to continue the life saving mission of the center. A crisis pregnancy within his family inspired him to do more to guide and direct young women that were agonizing over their unplanned pregnancies.
