http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/bts-common-alarm-reference-v30001 14/114
1.1 Alarm Serial Number
This topic describes the alarm serial number.
Alarm serial number is an integer ranging from 1 to 999999999. It is used cyclically to identify
alarms. In a numbering cycle, an alarm serial number identifies only one alarm. The alarms of
the same type but with different report sources or report time have different alarm serial numbers.
1.2 Alarm ID
This topic describes the alarm ID.
Alarm ID is an integer ranging from 1 to 32000. An alarm ID identifies only one alarm. The
alarms of the same type but with different report sources or report time have the same alarm IDs
and handling procedures.
1.3 Alarm Type
This topic describes the alarm types: fault alarm and event alarm.
Table 1-1 describes the alarm types.
Table 1-1 Description of the alarm types
Type Description
Fault alarm The fault alarm indicates the status of the equipment. When an alarm isgenerated, the status is set to a value. When the alarm is cleared, the status is
set to another value. The severity of the fault alarm is normally higher than
that of the event alarm. All fault alarms must be cleared.
Event alarm The event alarm indicates that an accidental event occurs when the equipment
is running. It indicates an instant status. Event alarms need not to be cleared
and some event alarms are regularly resent.
1.4 Alarm SeverityThis topic describes the alarm severities: critical, major, minor, and warning.
Table 1-2 describes the alarm severities.
Table 1-2 Description of the alarm severities
Severity Description
Critical The alarm of this severity affects the system services, and you must take
immediate actions. If the equipment or resource cannot be used, you must
restore it immediately. Even if the fault occurs during non-working time, you
also need to take immediate actions.

Severity Description
Major Alarm of this severity affects the quality of service (QoS) and you must take
immediate actions. If the QoS of the equipment or resource decreases, you
must restore the equipment or resource to recover its capability. You must take
immediate actions during the working time.
Minor Alarm of this severity does not affect the QoS. To avoid the fault with higher
severity, however, you need to take actions in proper time or observe the fault.
Warning Alarm of this severity indicates that errors may exist to affect the service.
Based on different errors, you must take different actions to handle the errors.
1.5 Event Type
This topic describes the event types: power system, environment system, signaling system, trunk
system, hardware system, software system, running system, communication system, QoS, and
processing error.

2.1 ALM-17016 OML Between Board and Main Processing Module Disconnected
Description
The ALM-17016 is reported when the operation and maintenance links (OML) between other
boards and the main processing module are interrupted.
Through the OML, the main processing module performs loading, configuration, maintenance,
and state management on other configured boards of the BTS. When the main processing module
detects that the OML between a board and the main processing module is interrupted, it reports
the alarm.
Through the alarm, you can find in time the interruption of the OML between the board and the
main processing module.
The main processing module of the BBU3606 is the CMPT, and that of other types of BTS is
the BCKM.

2.10 ALM-17586 Number of Locked Satellites Insufficient
Description
The ALM-17586 is reported when the satellites locked by the main processing module (BCKM/
CMPT) satellite receiver are insufficient.
The following situations cause the insufficient satellites locked by the BCKM/CMPT satellite
receiver:
l When the satellites traced by the BCKM/CMPT satellite receiver are insufficient, the
BCKM/CMPT fails to obtain the satellite position because of the bad geometric position
such as small satellite elevation even if the traced satellites are sufficient. As a result, the
BTS system clock performance is affected and the alarm is generated.
l When the system clock does not have the hold capability, the alarm is reported if the
satellites traced by the BCKM/CMPT satellite receiver are insufficient or the position
cannot be obtained.
l When the system clock has the hold capability, the alarm is reported if the satellites traced
by the BCKM/CMPT satellite receiver are insufficient or the position cannot be obtained
in the hold time.
Through the alarm, you can find the fault of the insufficient satellites locked by the BCKM/
CMPT satellite receiver.
NOTE
The situations of insufficient satellites traced are as follows:
l The traced satellites are fewer than four in the case of the GLONASS not-in-position hold.
l The traced satellites are fewer than five in the case of the GPS/GLONASS not-in-position hold.
l The traced satellites are fewer than one or two in the case of the satellite receiver in-position hold.

2.16 ALM-18132 PID Delay Alarm
DescriptionWhen the delay of BCMCS service data packet exists in the Abis interface, the ALM-18132 is
reported.
When the CECM/HECM is started, it identifies the delay alarm threshold through the process
identity (PID) of the miscellaneous parameter that is used to configure the broadcast information
flow. When the PID delay exceeds the threshold, the CECM/HECM reports the alarm. After
five minutes, the alarm is cleared if the PID delay is smaller than the threshold.
Through the alarm, you can find in time the fault in the delay of the BCMCS service data.

2.17 ALM-18136 DSP Main Clock Abnormal
Description
When the digital signal processor (DSP) main clock of the CECM/HECM is exceptional, the
ALM-18136 is reported.
The CECM/HECM periodically checks the register of the FPGA clock signal alarm to determine
whether the 80 MHz clock is faulty. If the 80 MHz clock is faulty, the DSP main clock signal
is exceptional and the alarm is reported.
The alarm is associated with the 25 MHz clock alarm, 60 MHz clock alarm, and 125 MHz clock
alarm. When the ALM-18136 is reported, you can infer that other clocks are also faulty. Only
the 80 MHz clock alarm and the DSP main clock alarm, however, are reported.
Through the alarm, you can check in time whether the DSP main clock is exceptional.
