CULTURE The main predominant religion Roman
Catholicism. It developed distinctive styles, among

THE FLAG OF BRAZIL
FLAG The Brazilian flag was adopted on
November 15, 1889. The green symbolizes their fields and
forest. The yellow symbolizes their wealth in
gold. In the center floats a blue celestial globe
with 27 white stars each one representing each state and federal districts.
The white band across the globe has the motto “Ordem E Progresso” in translation it means Order and Progress.
HISTORICAL REPRESENTATIVE

HISTORY The city of Rio de Janeiro proper was
founded by the Portuguese on March 1, 1565 and was named São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, in honor of St. Sebastian, the saint who was the namesake and patron of the then Portuguese Monarch D. Sebastião. Rio de Janeiro was the name of Guanabara Bay.
