H2S service suitability isensured by combining the lowstress profile of non-interferencethreads with fixed make-up posi-tion control of a shouldered con-nection.

Trouble-free make-up is routinewith Hydril’s two-step, non-inter-ference thread style. Machiningthe threads on two different diam-eters provides very deep stabbingfor stable make-up alignment.

Reserve torque strength is pro-vided by the 90° intermediateshoulder. Close tolerance controlbetween shoulders ensures theintermediate will function as a sec-ondary shoulder.

Superior galling resistance ofthe non-interference thread profilehas been proven in numerousinstallations of 9% and 13%chromium stainless steel strings.

Corrosion protection continuityis provided by the optional CB fea-ture. The virtually inert CB ring cre-ates the corrosion resistant bridgebetween pin and box plastic coat-ing without detracting from overallconnection performance. The pro-tected location of the CB ringalong with the controlled“squeeze” on make-up allow multi-ple trips without replacing the ring.

Improved connection coat-ability is provided by the IDchamfers which eliminate thesharp plastic coated corners sus-ceptible to chipping.

Multiple string completionsand hang-up free running areensured by the streamlined ODconfiguration of the upset andhaving the same turned OD ofboth pin and box.

With a worldwide reputation fordurability, CS, PH-6, and PH-4are unmatched for production aswell as workstring applicationssuch as drilling cement, milling, fishing, and high pressure drillstem testing. This durability is produced by combining thereusability of non-interferencethreads, metal seals, and substan-tial torque shoulders.

100% pipe body tensionstrength is produced by machin-ing pin and box on a hot-forgedupset. Connection critical areasexceed the pipe body area.

High torque strength is providedby the 30° reverse angle shoulder. This positive torque stop ensuresthe connection makes up to thesame position every time. Theshoulder also provides excellentresistance to compression andbending loads. Preload applied tothe shoulder and thread loadflanks during make-up allows theconnection to withstand high loadswithout danger of unseating theseals.

The 100% external pressureseal is created at the torque shoul-der. This metal seal also provides apressure energized secondaryinternal pressure seal.

Metal-to-metal internal pressureseal is rated at 100% of the pipebody. The compound pressureenergizing produces a highly reli-able high pressure gas-tight seal.

Special clearance OD retains100% tension and pressure ratings.

Flowstream continuity is main-tained with the bored ID andrecess-free bore configuration. The erosion-corrosion associatedwith a turbulent flowstream is minimized.

U.S. and foreign patents apply.
