Dear parishioners, The Christ the King Catholic Church Sunday Mass collection, from July 23rd, 2017, has gone missing. Little is known, at this time, as to how it went missing, when exactly it went missing and why? The Todd County Sheriff’s department has been contacted and will be conducting their own investigation. At this time, it is not certain that the collection was stolen, and it is my sincere hope that it will turn up again soon. Parishioners put great trust in their pastor and parish staff, to be good administrators of these gifts given to the Church. Your trust of us cannot simply be expected, it is earned. For this reason, the following practices will be implemented at Christ the King Catholic Church:
Mass collections will no longer be stored anywhere at the
parish following the Masses. They will be immediately deposited, at an off-site location, by designated parishioners.
Money counting has, up until now, occurred on our parish campus. This practice will be discontinued. Money will continue to be counted according to Diocesan-approved guidelines, but at a secure and off-site location.
Doors to the sacristy will be locked whenever a liturgy is not being celebrated.
Many of you may have added concerns. I have attempted to address some of these, and they may be found in this week’s bulletin insert. The parish and finance councils will be assisting me to assure that the best practices are being exercised to avoid this and other such incidents in the future.
Thank you for your prayers. May God bless you!
Father Mitchell
