Mittagong’s Sedalia Farm has been sold having been listed with $3.6 million hopes. The farmhouse,
complete with two wood-burning fires, has been designed to resemble an American style barn, blending contemporary and rustic features. The formal dining and separate lounge open to outdoor living spaces. There are two bedrooms on the lower level and two upstairs, plus a mezzanine study nook. Haydon Homes Bowral agent Eloise Haydon marketed the property. Set on two hectares, it includes a one bedroom guesthouse.
T he Highlands is set for one of its biggest sales of the year with the $6 million listing of Beacon Hill,
the luxury Glenn Murcutt-designed Bowral home. The pavilion-style home was commissioned in 1992 by the late judge Roddy Meagher QC and his late artist wife Penny. They paid $260,000 for the 40 hectares in the early 1980s, buying from their friend James Fairfax, who subdivided his Retford Park Estate. The four bedroom home, complete with studio, gym, sauna, swimming pool and spa, was the Meaghers’ weekender. The Agency Southern Highlands agent Ben Olofsen has the listing.
Corinda Grange, the historic 1930 Bundanoon property, has been listed after extensive renovations.
The Erith Street home sits on over eight hectares. It was once part of a larger pastoral property, which later became a guesthouse with golf course frequented by radio star Jack Davey. From the late 1950s
to the early 1980s, Corinda Grange was a dairy. Today, the main house has four bedrooms, two living and dining areas and a deck overlooking the gardens. In the grounds is Peony Cottage, a self-contained two bedroom cottage, and The Dairy, a multipurpose studio. There’s also a stable and attached manager’s flat. Fox Glen, the Robertson retreat, has been listed for the first time in more than 15 years. Asking
$3.6 million, the 11 hectare holding last traded for $1,125,000 in 2003. The main five bedroom homestead has been completely restored. There’s also separate two bedroom guest accommodation. A swimming pool, tennis court, cattle yards and a stable sit in the grounds, as does a high yielding olive grove with 100-plus trees. Airthrey, a two hectare Mount Murray property with views of the Illawarra coastline, has sold for $2.7
million. It had been marketed with initial $2.95 million hopes through Andrew de Montemas from W. M. Carpenter Real Estate. The two storey home has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, an upstairs artist’s studio and a home office. The timber clad and Colorbond roofed house sits amid Peter Fudge gardens. The property also includes a machinery shed.
White Birch Farm, the Robertson farm with a rich history of owners and visitors, has been
listed. The property was once owned by Steve Prestwich, the late drummer of Cold Chisel, and his then wife Jo-Anne. They paid $427,000 for the 10 hectare estate in 1993. The cottage in the grounds was a recording studio for the band, including long-time Highlands local Jimmy Barnes.
Prestwich sold the property in 2001 for $985,000. The current vendor, director Tony Williams and his wife Anna, paid $1.95 million for the home in 2007. During their ownership, artist John Olsen used the studio to paint his monumental mural The King Sun. Di Jones Southern Highlands agent Lisa-Marie Cauchois is marketing the property with a $3.85 million guide. White Birch Farm has a five bedroom main homestead, a two bedroom cottage, cattle yards and a vegetable garden.
Lily View, an architecturally designed country home in Wildes Meadow has been listed with $2,195,000
hopes. Ken Heikkinen of Raine & Horne Southern Highlands has the listing, which he says has a modern Scandinavian feel. The property last traded for $870,000 in 2009. The 1980s Myra Vale Road home on 2.8 hectares has four bedrooms, a lounge area with fireplace and a north-facing terrace. Heikkinen says the Black Box, a contemporary work space with tilt doors, black tinted glass, kitchen and full bathroom, could be used as state-of-the-art accommodation.
Catalina, a pavilion-style Burradoo home set on a 1835sqm block, is on the market with a price guide of
$2.95 million. The home features premier design and precision detailing, such as a contemporary black steel-framed entry door and void entrance foyer. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and is designed around a central kitchen with breakfast bar and study nook. The kitchen, living and dining space open to a deck and alfresco area overlooking the swimming pool. Michael Cawthorn of Knight Bailey Bowral has the listing.
