System Overview – DUE FRIDAY
DO NOW DEBRIEF
ESSENTIAL QUESTION:How do the skeletal and muscular system work together to provide movement?
AGENDA:-Review the structures of the skeletal and muscular systems-Complete Chicken Wing Dissection to determine the relationship between the skeletal and muscular systems.
• Muscular, Skeletal, & Nervous Systems: Incredible Human Machine
Muscular system
• Provides movement for the body• Maintains posture• Generates heat• Stabilizes joints
Skeletal Muscle
• Attached to bones• Contract to pull bones • Under voluntary control
Cardiac Muscle
• In the walls of the heart• Involuntary control
Smooth Muscle
• Found in hollow organs such as the stomach, intestines, and bladder
• Involuntary control
Pre-Lab Questions
• Use your notes from the previous day to complete the pre-lab question
• Put pencils down when everyone at table is ready
DissectionWe are working in
partners/groups of 3 today.
RESPONSIBILITIES:A- Lab Director/Clean Up

Dissection – Recording Observations
• Raw chicken can carry salmonella – a bacteria that can make you very sick.
• So.. Recorder will take observations during lab, and the rest of the group will have time after clean-up to use Recorder’s notes to complete their own worksheet.
• Recorder still wears gloves, goggles, and apron! Can still work with tools but MUST wash hands before touching writing utensil/recording observations

back in place• EVERYONE: WASH HANDS!!!!!!!!!

• Knee Replacement Animation
Levels of Organization Foldable• Tissue: a group of specialized cells that work
together to perform a specific function (ex: muscle, tendons, bone)
• Organ: a group of tissues that work together to perform a specific function (ex: brain, eyes, skin, bone)
• Organ System: A group of organs that work together to perform a specific function (ex: muscular system)
Partner Read
• Choose the system you would like to read about: Skeletal (p. 498-503) or Muscular (p. 504-509)
• Do the Section Review for this section on page ________
• If you finish, read Section 3: Skin (pgs. 510-514)
DO NOW (Pg. 54 in journal)Objective SWBAT investigate how the muscular and skeletal systems work together.
Prompt Describe how the skeletal and muscular system work together to create movement. (use the words tendons and ligaments)

This week’s HW: Skeletal, Muscular, and Integumentary
System Overview – DUE FRIDAY
ESSENTIAL QUESTION:What are the main structures and functions of the Integumentary system?
AGENDA:-Explore the structures of the integumentary system-Understand the function of the integumentary system
Integumentary System
Brainpop- Skin
Integumentary System Activity
• As you read and answer the questions from the integumentary reading, you will use a hand lens when prompted
• Interchange between all three lens types to give you various perspectives of you skin, nails, and hair
