ANNUAL
LYNN SAGE DISTINGUISHED LECTURER A FRONTLINE VIEW OF THE LAST 20 YEARS AND WHERE WE GO NEXT William Gradishar, MD
THE CONNIE MOSKOW MEMORIAL LECTURE IMMUNOLOGY AND BREAST CANCERMary Disis, MD
SYMPOSIUM CHAIR William Gradishar, MD SYMPOSIUM CO-CHAIRS Monica Morrow, MD Nora Hansen, MD
Referred to as the most valuable breast cancer meeting worldwide for the practicing clinician, the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Symposium provides 3.5 days of formal presentations and interactive case discussions. For 20 years, this multidisciplinary CME program has been bringing together leading national and international medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists to present, debate, and evaluate cutting-edge technology and approaches in the management of breast cancer.
Progress across all aspects of patient care, including prevention, screening, detection, and survivorship, as well as in the primary treatment modalities of surgery, radiation therapy, endocrine therapy, cytotoxic chemotherapy, and novel biologic therapies are leading to new strategies and therapeutic options. The symposium focuses on the close cooperation required for effective multidisciplinary management of patients with breast cancer.
Educational Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
» Describe factors which influence breast cancer in the African American population;
» Examine the incidence of lymphedema and treatment options;
» Discuss the role of new AJCC staging system and importance of biomarkers;
» Cite the role of axillary surgery today in the breast cancer patient;
» Define genomic testing options, which ones to use, and review need in metastatic breast cancer;
» Review optimal adjuvant therapy in the young patient and describe risk of local regional recurrence in young patients.
