At the request of Belgium the Commission signed a service contract to organise door to door transport operation to Haiti by the EC transport broker. The cargo arrived in Miami on 31 December. In accordance with the provisions of the Financial Instrument for civil protection 50% of the transport costs will be reimbursed by Belgian authorities. The MIC is cooperating closely with the ECHO office in PaP to secure the handover and the monitoring of the use of the assets. 1,008,000 water purification tablets were delivered by Austria and arrived in PaP on 14 December. Due to the massive influx of the Syrian refugees starting March 2012, the JO authorities decided on 14 September to ask for financial and in-kind assistance from EU countries
Based on the needs for the Camp Za'atri Jordan formulated a comprehensive request for assistance
- offers have been provided by AT, SK, NO consisting in blankets, tent heaters, camp supporting items. -LUX provided 3 ambulances -Financial assistance: DK, FR, DE, UK, ES, IR, NL, PL, - DE/THW participated with a WASH mission in the camp under UNHCR - FR had a mission with military AMP -IT donated a AMP to the Jordanian Royal Medical Service -EUCP Assessment team (CZ, AT, RO, IT, MIC LO) 24 09- 01.10 October. - DK: 40K blankets. Delivery foreseen early 2013. Handover by a small EUCP team (DK+MIC LO).
- MIC had been in contact with PS and with JO authorities for searching all the possibilities to fulfil the request for assistance.

- MIC contacted the ECHO field office and EU delegation in Chad in order to assess the situation and actual needs on the ground. - ECHO TAs conducted an assessment mission to areas affected by the floods (the mission went to N’Djamena, Mayo Kebbi, and Tandjile). - following the result of the assessment and other available information on the flood situation in Chad, the MIC concludes that for the time being there is no need for CP assistance,

ECHO staff has carried out needs assessments in IDP camps of Port-au-Prince, in Jeremie (Grande Anse) and Leogane, Grand Goave and the Nippes Department. Heavy rains and flooding affected the country. 363 deaths, 29,680 injured and more than 2M displaced
ECHO MIC has been in contact with all relevant stakeholders and is currently evaluating the situation to verify the needs and to study possible options for action. MIC undertook a preliminary analysis of the situation and concluded that there is no need to provide in-kind civil protection assistance from Europe at this stage of the emergency since the floods are gradually decreasing. However, the MIC decided to present to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) a proposal for an assessment mission to Nigeria to support the government in better managing the consequences of the recent floods, also with a view to upgrade their disaster management capacity. No follow up from Nigerian side, so the emergency was closed.
