Weeds making
you CRAZY?
Hand weeding containers is a labor intensive, expensive, maddening job that nobody wants to do. That’s why topdressing with PBH Nature’s Media Amendment makes perfect sense. Applied to a depth of 1 to 2 inches and used in conjunction with your preemergent herbicide, consider what the unique properties of PBH can do.
• DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE WEED CONTROL.
• SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE HAND WEEDING LABOR AND EXPENSE.
• IMPROVE CONTROL OF MOSS SPECIES SUCH AS LIVERWORT.
• REDUCE POTENTIAL FOR DROUGHT STRESS AND WATERING.
Stop the insanity. Topdress your containers with PBH today.
PBH Nature’s Media Amendment is a product of Riceland Foods, Inc. and is uniquely parboiled and processed to verify purity and cleanliness. Always trial any material used in a new application for adaptability to your operation.

ways to connectEMERGENT NETWORKING EVENT: A GROUP FOR GROWING PROFESSIONALSThursday, August 25 | 3:30–5pm VIP Room BIf you’re a young nursery professional this is the place to be — come meet the future of the industry! What originated nearly five years ago as the “Young Nursery Professionals” group has grown from a small handful of eager, talented young individuals to “Emergent: A Group for Growing Professionals” that now boasts nearly 2,500 of the nation’s brightest young minds in horticulture from across the nation.
This event is the place to network with enthusiastic horticulturalists, establish new relationships and share in how we can build the green industry for a brighter future. Exchange insight, innovation and maybe even find a busi-ness partner — it’s that kind of gathering! The conversa-tion continues beyond the event in Emergent: A Group for Growing Professionals on Facebook.
PUB CRAWLThursday, August 25 | 5:30–7:30pmWith nearly 80 breweries in Portland, it’s no wonder this city is nicknamed “Beervana.” Join us on our fifth annual Pub Crawl that is equal parts fun, networking and enjoyable relaxation. This lively event is open to all Farwest partici-pants, and the first 50 people at each location receive a FREE beverage!
Worried about getting lost? Our “beer sherpas” will de-part between 5:15–5:30pm from the Show Office Room C-120 to guide you along on your journey to the pubs via local transit. Watch for more details at www.FarwestShow.com, on our new Farwest App, on the Farwest Show Facebook page, and at the show. Maps to the pubs also will be available.
This year’s locations take us to the heart of downtown Portland:
• 5:30pm | Rock Bottom Brewery — 206 SW Morrison St. Join us upstairs in Rock Bottom’s Pool Room; check out the on-site brewery viewable from the event space.
• 5:30pm | Yard House Pioneer Place — 888 5th Ave #2004. Located right across from Pioneer Place Mall, Yard House boasts over 130 taps circling their bar.
• 6:30pm | Kell’s Irish Pub — 112 SW 2nd Ave. Kell’s is the perfect blend of Irish Pub and Portland cool. Cheers!
WOMEN IN HORTICULTUREFriday, August 26 | 3:30–5pm VIP Room BIt’s no secret women in the green indus-try are a force to be reckoned with! This networking event will help establish connections between women from across the nation who are horticulture pro-fessionals. It’s a great place to mingle, network, share and cultivate lasting career-long support. This year, meet Jenny Peterson, a garden designer with her own firm, J. Peterson Garden Design. She is also a writer, author, speaker and breast cancer survivor and specializes in educating others on how gardening helps enhance healing, balance, wellness and overall quality of life.
