outside of the home. Womens fashion altered to suit
the workforce, constrictiveundergarments such aswhalebone corsets wereabandoned to allow for an easeof movement

The Symbol of the Roaring Twenties, theFlapper, emerged in 1926 and embodied thedecades modern fashion elements such asshort sleek hair, a short shapeless dress, anda flat chest, and exposed limbs.
Flappers had a reputation that added to theirstyle as well.
Flappers smoked from long cigarette holders,applied makeup in public, and danced to jazzwith reckless abandonment of propriety.
