welcome...Hello and welcome to the August edition of our newsletter. Our big news this month is that we have found ahome for our first ever Fire.Cloud headquarters! We have moved into the Hidden Lane in Finnieston, Glasgow.It’s a great place with loads of character and we’ve been making ourselves at home over the last two weeks.It has a cobbled street, is surrounded by creative businesses and is right next to a vintage teashop selling someserious baking. What more could we need? Thank you for all your recommendations and prayers while wemade this decision; your help has made all the difference.
In other news, our new Fire.Cloud film team (Julie Mailley, James Fleming and Craig Meighan) have starteddreaming up some exciting ideas. They'll be out and about soon so watch out for more about what they’re upto over the coming months.

happy birthday to... us!On Friday 30th of July we celebrated two years since weofficially set up Fire.Cloud as an organisation. The party wasa great success and it was lovely to see so many of you turnout to celebrate with us. Thank you for all your continuingsupport and good company. The unanimous feedback hasbeen that the birthday cakes were quite a hit. We’ll keepthat in mind for next year!

researchOne of the big things we do at Fire.Cloud issocial research. It doesn’t always make thenewsletter headlines but this month wehave exciting researchy stuff to report.Early findings from one of our ongoingstudies have just been published in theScottish Journal of Healthcare Chaplaincy(Vol.13. No.1. 2010). This study looks at therelationship between faith and medicinewithin the NHS and what it all means forhealthcare chaplains. This is one of anumber we’re working on that examinehow religion, belief and spirituality areexpressed in professional environments.The aim of our research programme is tolearn more about some of those bigquestions facing society and to promoteunderstanding.

the big drawThis October we aregoing to be participatingin The Big Draw. This is aninitiative by Campaignfor Drawing which raisesthe profile of drawing asa tool for thought,creativity, social andcultural engagement. We are designing aweekend workshop where primary agedchildren can come along for a few hoursto draw, paint and create.
