October Program Wednesday, October 29, 2014
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Brio Tuscan Grill at International Plaza
October’s program will be a Media Training session with Amanda Lee, Public Relations
Manager with Tech Data Corporation. She presented a similar program at the Sunshine
District Conference that was very well received and that description is below to give
you a sense of the program.
Maximizing Media Coverage through a Dynamic Interview:
Media & Presentation Training
Your executives may know what “public relations” is, but do they know how to
successfully present and maximize earned media coverage through delivering a dynamic
interview? Media interview training provides both sound presentation techniques and
real-time, interview experience. By providing media training for your business executives,
they will develop the skills needed to effectively manage media interviews, including
staying on message and learn best practice techniques.
November Program Wednesday, November 19, 2014
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Brio Tuscan Grill at International Plaza
November is Diversity Month and we will have two speakers from Visit Tampa Bay:
Doug McClain, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, and Susan Williams,
Director of Convention Services. The program will focus on Tampa’s successful hosting
of the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) also known as the “Bollywood” Awards.
Visit Tampa Bay not only led the effort to secure this event – the first time the IIFA has
ever been hosted in North America - but also led a robust community education
campaign to build broader awareness and understanding of the Indian culture to create a
welcoming environment in Tampa Bay as well as excitement in the community about
this event.

COMMITTEE REPORT: Willingness to Serve 2015
Prepared by: Marissa Segundo, APR
Activities Since Last Report: An electronic Willingness to Serve form has been created for
the 2015 term.http://prsatampabay.org/form.php?form_id=13 This form will allow for interested officers, committee leaders and committee members to show their interest in serving. Using StarChapter’s form builder function we were able to add an option for officers and potential board members to add their photo. We feel this will stream line the election process and avoid hunting down this information after the fact.
Upcoming Activities:
An e-mail will be going out on the day after the mixer with this form. There were be two weeks in which interested officers can apply. Elections will also be held electronically using and elections form within StarChapter in early October. The officers will be announced at our October program.
