1. Based upon testing of IBM Storwize v7000 "Easy Tier" on previous generation IBM system. IBM Storwize v7000 is includedin IBM PureFlex System2. Based upon comparisons to previous generation blade servers. Specific client environments and results may vary.3. Based on IBM Research and Development testing estimating common user environments and manual tasks of selecting server for hosting the vm, allocating storage and networking resources and the virtual machine, compared with PureFlex System achievement of these tasks with existing resource pools. Specific client environments may vary. 4. Estimate based upon the PureFlex System Consolidation Tool leveraging the 3rd party ALINEAN methodology. Specific client environments and results may vary.

Built-in expertise –Infrastructure, platform, and application patterns
1) Based upon testing of the IBM PureApplication System W1500-96 and W1700-608 with time measured from powering on the system to when it is ready to support application deployments
2) Based upon testing of the IBM PureApplication System W1500-192 and W1700-608 deploying a single Virtual Application Pattern consisting of 2 WAS VMs, a DB2 VM, and updating the Elastic Load Balancer (ELB). The WAS VMs were allocated 4
vCPUs, 4 GB of memory and 12 GB of disk while the DB2 VM was allocated 8 vCPUs, 6 GB of memory and two virtual disks of 12 GB and 4 GB.
3) Based upon testing, under various workload conditions, of the IBM PureApplication System W1500-192 and W1700-608 automatically scaling a Virtual Application Pattern consisting of WAS VMs by adding an addtional WAS VM
4) Based upon testing of the IBM PureApplication System IBM PureApplication System W1700-384 (Power7+ Processor, 3.61GHz w/ 8-cores)VMs were deployed using the Virtual System Pattern methodology and were deployed as a WAS 8.5 five-node
cluster that deploys 5 virtual machines consisting of one deployment manager, 3 custom WebSphere nodes and 1 IBM HTTP Server. Each VM had default CPU and memory settings of 1 virtual CPU and 2 GB of memory

Three ways to get the value
of patterns of expertise
• Use IBM patterns of
expertise throughout the
system
• Patterns Add third-party
application patterns of
expertise
• Capture your own
expertise
