Welcome to week 8.
We have noticed a rising trend of students who are arriving late for school. I understand with colder mornings it is easy to sleep in but PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE MORNING SESSIONS ARE PRIME LEARNING TIME FOR YOUR CHILDREN! Our Home School Liaison officer is monitoring our regular late arrival students and an explanation may be required from parents if lateness is a regular occurrence for your child.
On Thursday we have Mrs Karen Burke, our Director, Educational Leadership visiting our school. Mrs Burke enjoys walking around, chatting to teachers and students and looking at the wonderful programs we have in our school to support student learning.
I hope you all enjoy a good week!
Regards,
Lyn Barnes Principal

Congratulations to our Year 6 girls Netball team who have progressed through to the fourth round of the PSSA Netball Knockout. The girls once again displayed a high level of skill, athleticism and sportsmanship to defeat Canowindra Public School 30 goals to 5. Our fourth round match will be played against Mulyan Public School at Mulyan. A huge shout out goes to our parents who are continuous supporters of all our sporting endeavours. We really appreciate all the kilometres you travel to provide us with opportunities for personal goal setting, increased personal fitness and motor skill development, reduced stress and anxiety, relationships with others, increased self- confidence, cooperation and team work and an outlet for creativity and self- expression. CHEERS TO TEAM SPORTS! Thanks also to Miss Cummins for umpiring us on the day.
PSSA Rugby League On Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th May our PSSA Rugby League Team travelled to Temora then Dubbo to play the Mortimer Shield and Rounds 1-3 of the PSSA Rounds. This was a huge
effort from not only the team and their amazing coaches Danny Tulloch and Rodney Crowe but for the parents who transported the students to their venues and stood in the freezing cold for
two days straight cheering them on.
At the Mortimer Shield Carnival, the boys played three games coming away with two wins and a very close loss going down to Temora Public 4-0. On the day Tyler Richards played incredible
football and was awarded player of the day. Congratulations Tyler.
Our PSSA Rounds were extremely tough coming up against a skillful and quick team in the first round. The boys played amazing football however were unfortunately defeated by only 4 points,
after going into extra time and the last try being scored with seconds to go on the clock.
It was an absolute pleasure managing this team; they were a credit to our school and did us all proud. Thank you once again to Rodney Crowe and Danny Tulloch for coming every Friday to
train the boys and inspiring not just great football but instilling in them the importance of respect, sportsmanship and teamwork.
To our parents, you are the unsung heroes of our team. Your willingness to travel and to stand in the freezing cold rain so your child can enjoy their footy is humbling. We all appreciate your
efforts and support.
I can’t wait to do it all again next year! Mrs Hopper
PSSA Rugby Union During week 4 our PSSA Rugby Union Team travelled to Orange to
compete in the first four rounds of the PSSA competition. This was the first year our school competed in the Union rounds and it was wonderful to see so many boys trying a new sport. Thank you must go to Matt Cooper for training the boys each week. His enthusiasm and encouragement were
second to none. Over the course of the day the team played three games. They came away with two wins and only one loss, placing them second on
the ladder at the end of the day. Although they are not progressing any further, I would like to congratulate
the team on their teamwork, attitude and commend their excellent sportsmanship not only towards each other but to the other teams and
officials. To our parents, you are always the backbone of children’s sport and this
day was no exception. Thank you very much for travelling and supporting our boys once again. Your encouragement, commitment and cheering allowed them to achieve their best and create some wonderful school
memories.
Yours in Sport – Mrs Hopper
