May 2017
Hello! We are so excited with the way 2017 is proceed-ing along. Each day is another opportunity to find a hidden treasure. We are so happy to have Brittney back with us from having that beautiful baby girl. She has been missed! May is a month of many special days to acknowledge special events. We celebrate Mother’s Day, Cinco De Mayo, Nurses Week – all the way to Hug Your Cat Day. BUT we cele-brate every day for the privilege to have time to spend with our Pacifica Woodmont family. Thank you for the opportunity to have you as part of our extended family. In an effort to verify that we have up to date accurate contact information,
I am asking you to take a moment to provide your address, phone numbers, as well as email addresses. You can send the information to my email address [email protected] or pick up a form at the front desk to fill out. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Take a moment to take a deep breath, think of all you have to be thankful, and enjoy each day as it comes.

I was born in New York City on May 3, 1919.
My father was a founder of the study of ethnomu-sicology, and my mother was a concert
violinist who also taught at the Juilliard School. I studied journalism at Harvard.
I spent more than 70 years honing my “craft.” I was acquainted with Jackson Pollock and
Thomas Hart Benton. An advocate of civil rights, I marched in the Free-dom Marches in Selma, Alabama, with Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. I forged my career path by hitchhiking and per-
forming around the country. The FBI followed my activities from the 1940s
through the 1970s.

It's natural to enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities! The Sun Safety Alliance (SSA) encour-ages you to be safe by follow-ing these sun-safety tips year-round to help prevent serious skin damage—and possibly skin cancer—later!
Keep in mind the sun is
strongest between 10 am
and 4 pm.
Wear clothing that's
dark and tightly woven.
Wear a wide-brimmed
hat and sunglasses.
Remember that UV rays
bounce off sand, snow, con-
crete, and water.
Sunscreens need to be
applied liberally and evenly
over all exposed areas.
Apply a sunscreen with
a SPF of 15 or higher when-
ever you're outdoors. Apply
sunscreen before going out-
doors and reapply often.
Provide complete sun-
screen coverage for your
skin (including neck, ears
and lips!).
For people with thin or
thinning hair, apply sun-
screen to the scalp as well.
And remember stay in
the shade whenever possi-
ble!
