[email protected] or call (816-673-9863)
We look forward to seeing you .
It’s a new year and much news to talk about. First of all we are trying something
new for the Lunker Dinner. If you didn’t read about it on the first page go back
and check it out.
The other big thing going on this month is the newly redesigned and current web-
site for MTFA in Kansas City www.mtfa-kansascity.org. Our Vice-president and
Troutline editor, Gary Davisson, commissioned Mike Sarno to provide the tech-
nical and design assistance to totally redesign our website. Mike has done an out-
standing service to MTFA. Gary has also provide up-to-date content so that
things like the club calendar for 2019 is online. This is still a work in progress
and there may be times when the site is temporarily down but if that happens, just
try it again a little later. Kudos to Mike and Gary.
This year the MTFA Spring Derby at Bennett Spring is May 18 & 19th. Our
chapter is the host organization for this event. We will be doing registrations Fri-
day night (May 17th) and Saturday morning. Registering tagged fish through-out
the event, providing a meal at the state-wide MTFA annual meeting Saturday
evening, awarding derby prizes and after the derby prizes have concluded,
conducting a raffle to benefit MTFA . I am asking as many of you who can, to
participate and fish in this derby. I am also asking for volunteers to help conduct
the events I’ve listed above.
I will be chairing the MTFA State council meeting on March 9th where the State
Board approves the events that take place.

6 PERSONS
Ingredients
2 1/2 pounds (1.1 kg) trout fillet, about one inch thick at the thickest portion
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Directions Preheat the grill to medium high heat, you want to be cooking at a temperature of 400-450 degrees F. Place the
trout fillet, skin side down, on a foil grilling pan. If you don’t have one you could also use a double layer of tin
foil. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
Spread the mixture all over the trout fillet, coating the entire top of the fish. Place the foil pan on the grill and
close the lid. Grill the trout for 20-25 minutes, or until it flakes easily with a fork at the thickest portion.
