• Press$ toproceedtothenextscreeninsequenceor" togohometotheIdleScreen.TorqueTolerancesTorqueforajointmaybespecifiedwitha“plusorminus”tolerance.Inpractice,thisdoesn’talwaysgivethedesiredcontrolovertheuseofatorquetool.Instead,iftorquefallsbetweenaminimumandamaximumvalue,thejointisdeemedOK.TheDTCcanuseeitherstrategysincevaluesarestoredseparately.TargetTorqueisstoredinternallyasatorquevalueinaunitofmeasure,MinimumTorqueisstoredasa“minus”tolerancepercentage,andMaximumTorqueisstoredasa“plus”tolerancepercentage.Onceset,iftolerancepercentagesdonotchange,onlytheTargetTorquevalueneedbechangedfromonejointtoanother.Duringoperation,thetoollightsthegreenLEDifafinalresultisintheminimumtomaximumrangeandredifthemaximumisexceeded.TheTargetTorquescreenwasaddedtoholdoffthegreenLEDuntiltheoperatorpulledtoachosenvaluehigherthantheminimumtorque,typicallythemidpointoftherange.Thiscorrespondsto“targetplusorminustolerance”.MinimumTorqueScreen

• WhenTargetTorqueischanged,TargetTorqueminusthelowtoleranceisthenewMinimumTorque.Intheexampleabove,foratargetof100.0in.lb.anda3%tolerance,MinimumTorquewouldinitializeto97.0in.lb.

• Use!or#toincrement/decrementMinimumTorqueinthesamewayasTargetTorque.ThefinalvalueofMinimumTorquedeterminesanewlowtolerance,namely(TargetminusMinimum)dividedbyTarget.

• ApossiblestrategyistosetMinimumequaltoTarget.Thenewlowtolerancewillbe0%.EverysubsequentchangetoTargetwillchangeMinimumtomatchthenewTarget.Thenunder-torquingwillnevergetagreenlightoranOKstatus.

ResidualModeResidualmodeshowszerotorqueonthewrenchuntilresidualtorqueisdetected,thenitshowstheresidualtorqueuntiltorqueisreleased,withanOKstatus.

• TargetAngle–Thedefaultis3°.Thismaybemodifiedthroughthekeypad.Tolookforthetorquediponly,setthetargetangleto0°.OthersettingscanbetunedasneededusingDTCConnect.

Twomethodsmaybeappliedtodetectresidualtorque.

• Onasoftjoint,apullthroughasmallprescribedangledenotesthatresidualtorquehasbeenreached.Thevalueatthatexactanglerepresentstheresidualtorquethatwasinthejoint.Aminimumof3°isrecommended.

• Onahardjoint,adipintorquemaybedetectedwhenappliedtorquebreaksthejointloosemomentarily.Thevalueatthebottomofthediprepresentstheresidualtorquethatwasinthejoint.

Boththeresidualtorque(“asfound”)andthefinaltorque(“asleft”)arelogged.T2AModeInTorquetoAnglemode,ajointistightenedtoaprescribedtargettorque;thenthefasteneristurnedthroughanadditionalangle,intendedtostretchthefastenerandthusapplyclamploadbyanamountproportionaltotheangle.Astorqueisapplied,itisdisplayedinlargedigits,withanangleof0°.WhentheTargetTorqueisreached,ayellowLEDlightsandthedisplaychangestoangleinthelargedigits,startingat0°.Asangleapproachesitstarget,theotheryellowLEDslightup.

• TargetTorque–PulltothisvaluetogetayellowLEDandstartcountingangle.Thisistypicallythesnugpointonthejoint,thepointatwhichtheheadofthefastenerhasbottomedout.

• TargetAngle–PulltothisangletogetagreenLEDandanOKstatus.• MaximumAngle–TheredLEDlightsandthestatusisHIifangleexceedsitsmaximum.• MaximumTorque–Whilefinalangleisofprimaryinterest,acheckonfinaltorquemaybe

warrantedaswell,e.g.,todetectafastenerthatistoohardtostretchenough(100%offullscaletorquebydefault).Forthisreason,minimumtorqueandmaximumtorquemayalsobespecified.Finaltorquemustfallwithinthisrangetobeacceptable.

TAMModeTorquewithAngleMonitoringisanextensionofPeakmode,addingtheabilitytodetectcross-threadedfasteners,doublehitsonajoint,andthelike.Primarily,itaddstheconstraintthatafastenermustturnthroughaminimumanglebeforeminimumtorqueisreached.TAMmodeusesthesamesettingsasPeakmode,plus:

• TargetAngle–Thisistheminimumangleneededbeforeminimumtorqueisreached.CALIBRATIONCalibrationScreenIfconfiguredtodisplaytheCALIBRATEWRENCHscreen,calibrationcanbeinitiatedthroughthekeypadduringacoldstart.ThefollowingscreenappearsaftertheIdentificationScreen,andthennotagainuntilthenextcoldstart.

• Press#toentercalibrationmode.TheCalibrationPasswordscreenappears.• Press$ toskiptonormaloperation.

CalibrationPasswordScreenA4-digitpasswordmustbeenteredcorrectlybeforethewrenchcanbecalibrated.

• TheCalibrationPasswordScreenisanalogoustotheUnlockPasswordScreendescribedpreviously.Thefactorydefaultpasswordis3112.ItcanbechangedusingDTCConnect.
