Ipromisetosupportthesechildreninpreparingto receive the Lord for the first Qme in theSacrament of the Eucharist and we will keepyouinourprayers.
REFLECTIONIn this final Lenten Sunday we look again at thesignificanceofChristinourlives.Werecognisehimasour saviour, but we look more closely in order todiscoverjustwhatkindofsaviourheis.Hehastakentheformofaslave;hehasbeenglorifiedwithanameaboveallothernames;heconQnuestosufferwithus.Wehavenotbeensavedthroughmilitarypower,butthroughtheself-offeringhumilityofJesus.ThoughhewasreallyintheformofGod,Jesuscameintheformofaslave.WehaveasaviourwhowascrushedforouriniquiQes,nailed toa crossasa convicted felon,andthereenduredthesenseofabandonment.Inthefaceof this, we must ask a fundamental quesQon: WhydoesGodloveuswithsuchabandon?We have a saviour who was lihed up and exaltedprecisely because he empQed himself of his divineprerogaQves.Hebecameoneofus inorder to showushowwearetolive.UnlikeconquerorswhotriumphbypuPngdowntheiropponents,Jesuswasraisedupbecausehehimselfwasfirstwillingtobeputdown.WehaveasaviourwhofirstofferedhimselfforusandthenconQnuestoofferhimselftousasanexampletofollow. As he was willing to empty himself for oursake, soweare told toemptyourselves for thesakeofothers.

HYMNSFORSUNDAYMASS IN FOCUS Blessed are the Merciful It seems to me that through my son’sgrowing-up years, I have felt every slightpain, misunderstanding, rejecQon, etc.,thathehasexperienced.Heneverwalkedto thesamedrummerandneverdreamedthesamedreamsashispeers.Tothisday,hehearshisowndrumbeat,and forbeingdifferent he has suffered, mostly unjustly.(Lots of joys in life too, not to overstatehere). Mercy … Mercy is the other hand ofcompassion. We feel for another and wearedrawntotaketheirpart.Wereallyanddeeply care - as the good thief did forJesus.“Blessedarethemerciful,”Jesussaidtothecrowd,“fortheyshallobtainmercy,”again as the good thief did. Ponder thevirtueofmercy todayand try toextend ittoanyonearoundyouwhoissufferingorinneed.
OnthisPalmSunday,Jesus,youaregreetedby the crowdwith songsof joy.May I toogreetyouwith loveandpraise.Thecrowdthat cheeredyou,however, turnedagainstyou on Good Friday.
